Hello guys, I was just reading thru the ARMOURED BREAKTHROUGH formation from HH6 Retribution. In this formation you can take predator tanks as troops take one Sicaran or Predator tank as a HQ and make it your Warlord.

So my question is, do I need a Preator with his Master of the legion trait or does the tank HQ suffice?

I hope the latter because it is quite a problem to find a cosy and meaningful spot for a preator in an army full of tanks.

You need someone with Master of the Legion (see FAQ quote below). The HQ tank is merely counting as an HQ choice and as a Warlord, it doesn't have Master of the Legion itself and so cannot unlock the rite.

In order for a Space Marine detachment to have access to Rites of War, it must have as part of that detachment a model with the Master of the Legion special rule.

That also makes the HQ tank incompatible with the Delegatus due to Jealous Command, so a Praetor is your best bet.

8000 points of XI Legion the Space Vagabonds, they can adapt their tactics to represent any and every Legion and Chapter as needed because they were created by the Emperor to be the ultimate tactical power. They have faked their disappearance in order to infiltrate every part of the conflicts in the galaxy.

8000 points of Tau/Craftworld Eldar/Necron because the Space Vagabonds can also emulate their wargear and tactics.

Victories: ALL
Losses: NONE (My armies have the psychic ability to conjure a cataclysmic storm whenever they are about to lose. This allows the Space Vagabonds to teleport away while releasing power waves that destroys the battlefield and so every battle is a victory)

So the question is, in which way to use the preator in tank heavy list?
Maybe a Land rider with some choppy squad?

I would give him a command squad and thrown him in a Land Raider or a Spartan

<Dynasty> ~10500pts
War Coven of the Coruscating Gaze ~3000pts
Thrice-Damned Plague Corps ~3250pts
Admech (TBN) ~3500pts +30k Bots and Ulator

I would put him and a command squad in a rhino TBH. Maby the Damocles? I understand that it now has a transport capacity in 30k? Either way I would be holding him back for counter attacking or clearing a squad off a objective.

Damocles rhino seems interesting. But for countercharging and clearing objectives, rhinos are worthless since 5th, cause you cant charge out from them.
Command squad is problematic for me, because it doesnt have objective secured.
Normal terminators would be better (objective secured), but they dont fit in a LR with the Preator (classical 40k/30k marine problem). Spartan is just an awful point sink in an army focused on cheap tanks (an I dont have it ).
I am playng with the idea od scouting LR Proteus with plasma or melta special weapon squad.

(I play IW.)

You still can but it work better for units that also have a shooting attack. I have 10 man bolter/CCW squads jump out into area terrian since it makes it harder for people to charge them 1st, and they shoot that turn. next turn they advance on foot. The Rhino and democles also become fast tanks in armoured break threw, so this helps alot for using rhinos to get your guys were they need to be.

But mostly I meant the rhino as a transport to full fill the transport deployment requirement mostly because the rhino is cheaper both money and point wise. You would be disembarking off it as soon as possible.

The Democles is worth pointing out since it has added bonuses, if you have any deep striking fliers, outflanking tanks, ect.
