My gaming group has two diffrent versions of how D weapons work so i want to out source this question.

Version #1 Imperial Knight swings and hits 1 time. Then rolls a 3 on the chart. Now the Chapter Master rolls his invulnerable against the wound. If he passes the save then thats it and there is no D3 wounds. If he fails he take D3 wounds.

Version #2 Imperial Knight swings and hits 1 time. Then rolls a 3 on the chart. Now the Imperial Knight rolls the D3 and get 5. Now the Chapter Master must make 3 invulnerable saves.

I have seen this played both ways and even found a website saying Version 1 is correct. Which is the version i have been playing by.

So please help a fellow gamer out and end this once and for all in our group.

One save.

The single hit wounds automatically, making one wound. That one wound has the effect of causing a model to lose the given number of wounds instead of the usual 1.

Version 1 is correct.

Rick Priestley said it best:
Bryan always said that if the studio ever had to mix with the manufacturing and sales part of the business it would destroy the studio. And I have to say – he wasn’t wrong there! The modern studio isn’t a studio in the same way; it isn’t a collection of artists and creatives sharing ideas and driving each other on. It’s become the promotions department of a toy company – things move on!

Yep this is the right way to play it. Destroyer weapons don't wound automatically and inflict D3 wounds, they wound automatically and cause you to lose D3 Wounds if you fail your save. A roll of a 6 wounds automatically and causes you to lose D6+6 Wounds, no saves allowed.

I hope I made sense there!

Version 1.
But remember that common D weapons will cause Instant Death as if they are S10

Also bypasses Reanimation Protocols as well.

Are you a Wolf, a Sheep, or a Hound?

Version one is the correct one to play.
Contrast, if you will, the strange and explicit verbiage found on Adeptus Mechanicus/Skitarii radium weapons that go out of their way to tell you to save the extra wounds separately, which is not found on the destroyer table, or on any of the other things that inflict multiple wounds per wounding hit.
