Subject: Modeling a Fallen Angel, where to start?

So what it says on the title, I've had a fallen angel leading my chaos warband in fluff for quite a while now, but model wise, besides a black cape that doesn't match the heraldry of the army, and VOTLW, there is nothing to link my chaos lord to the fallen angels, so I've decided to make a second model of the character, I'm calling his "relic gear" from when he first turned, and using the orginal model as gear he more resently obtained, and used to obsure his identity as a member of one of the most wanted groups in the galaxy.
So my question is where to start? The current model I have for him in the (converted for battle damage) terminator lord set, and I currently have the dark vengeance dark angel commander as a stand in for his old gear, but I want the model to look a lot older than it does, right now it screams "post heresy" so I was wondering if anyone knew of any good 30k models to start with, or if there was anything else that might look good for this character.

Betrayal at Calth is your best friend. See if you can kitbash some of that stuff with parts from the Dark Angels Veterans Sprue (that sprue comes with Terminator legs if you want a terminator).

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

Look at the older Mks of armour as a base- 2 & 3 will definitely make the model look more archaic. Combine this then with Dark Angel robes (sculpted or acquired) and a hooded cowl for a 30k Dark Angel look.
You then need to decide to what degree the Fallen has turned to Chaos to tie him to the rest of your army. Some corrupted pauldons, a CSM powerpack, or using the arms from the Raptors sprue would be some good options.
The rest is down to paint scheme!

I kitbashed a Cypher out of a Dark Angels MK VI veteran body, FW MK IV arms, old MK of a Bolt Pistol and the backpack of the GW Cypher.
I imagine a Fallen Angel would look similiar to Cypher, but it would totally depend, how much he has himself aligned with the Chaos gods as CadianXV has said.

Thanks! I guess I'll start to gather the parts, might do a thread on it when it comes time to build the model.

The Dark Vengeance box is where I got my parts...
Looking forward to what you're going to make of your fallen...
It's one of those pieces of the lore that doesn't have a model and that is just waiting for scratch builts and conversions...
