Hi people of Dakkadakka! after about 2 years from the hobby I have decided to get stuck back in this is my first 7th ed list as you may well be able to tell. I'm not 100% on how all these new force org things work so please point out if I have gotten something totally wrong.

I Haven't seen many people running Broadsides anymore so the fact I'm sticking with them may be a sign of me being stuck in the past a little. Also, no Stormsurge in the list while I think they are awesome, I don't have one yet though will get one in a few months.

Only problem I see is a lot of one model units that are easy KP do you lack crisis suits? Also are the sides rail or missile

Oh yeah I will change that they all have missiles. I have plenty of crisis suits but I really wanted to try out the support cadre for the marker light support in my list and its hard to fit things in around it.

The club I go to only really seem to play maelstrom missions I think so KP isn't so much of an issue is it? plus its hard to get all the cool new formations in without going MSU haha.

Tl fusion is not so good better take two fusion blasters for most dmagae output.
Right now it is more common to take one load out in the crisis.

I fully agree only I'm struggling to find the 30 points. obviously i can take out the missile drone on the lone broadside and his plasma to save 18 but I can't see anything else other than dropping Skyfire on a riptide.

Been thinking about adjustments to the list. I have added the Culexus Assasin as I have seen many call it mandatory in a tau comp list, would i suffer much if it was dropped? and any more feedback would be great
im not 100% sure as to what the meta is currently and how well this list will fare.

List looks solid. the amount of 2 up saves this army puts out is intense. I really like the ranged support cadre and i am working on making a tau army with that included. the pathfinders getting 2 plus saves in ruins is very bothersome for somebody without ignores cover weapons. I feel that you may be lacking in bodies though which will make it hard to go for objectives.

I really wanted to try the support cadre out stealth and shrouded is great for their survivability and getting infiltrate is massive, having the flexibility to deploy markerlight units after knowing where the enemy is nearly as important as the cover saves. the 2 for 1 marker light bonus is just the cherry on the cake even if I don't make that much use of it.

As for objective holding I see what you mean though compared to some of the other Tau lists with 2 storm surge lists it's not so bad. I'm hoping my opponent will be too busy killing riptides to worry about the other guys. I am loving all these new formations though they bring a fun new element to list building. I'm thinking the dawn blade contingent is awesome! let's be honest most lists have something big or important to kill re-rolling hits and wounds on a unit per turn is sweet. Even the retaliation cadre which I viewed as a bit of a tax for the dawn blade contingent helps deep strike an extra riptide and suits wherever my objectives need without the worry that they may take till turn 4 to come on! and the riptide formation is just crazy.

A few things to save you points..

The riptide wing is not part of the Contingent, so their is no mandatory need for the bonding knife. so there is 3 pts.

Additionally and this comes down to your local group decision. But as of the new Montka and FSE editions, a riptide cannot take the ECPA because it is not a character. Again, not bringing this up for debate its how its worded and its your groups decision. But that saves another 35? pts

really? I didn't see that in the book is that how it generally is ruled at tournaments and such. I was about to ask why in the rule it states a re-roll to nova charge but I suppose that's because O'Vesa gets it as standard.

I'll take the bonding knives off my riptides thanks, I didn't see that. Does that mean they don't benefit from the re-rolls given for the contingent?

Brought up in debates in other threads.. it comes down to the old book says "characters in FSE may take ONLY FSE relics (riptides may also take them)" and the new one "characters in FSE may take relics from BOTH FSE and Tau empire"

So we lose the caveat that riptides may take it.. but now gain Tau empire relics in return.. so evens out to me haha.

I have done a few changes, Not happy with the loss of ECPA on the riptide tho. Not sure how effective but a twin cylic ion blaster suit is seems fun haha 6 str 7 shots and can punish units that forget to spread out with a couple of blast templates. I've dropped all the Skyfire but if I really need to kill flyers I have quite a few str 7 shots.

You can only have 3 units of crisis so you need to make one a unit of two or something

I am fairly sure that riptides can no longer take ECPA.

Yeah I've changed it in the new list. The lone riptide is a lot less reliable due to the change in rules though :(
