Howdy Folks!

SkirmishGames.com is the new site for Gangfight Games and the home of our new open-ended & free ruleset. You can download the core rules + fantasy supplement now, and we’ll be adding more genres to it soon.

I’ll be using this new post to share news and featured article excerpts about gang building, gaming tips and also previews of new models too. We also have new Facebook and Twitter pages if you’d like to follow those too! So, let’s begin with our first Gang Building article:

Building Your First Fantasy Guild

Building gangs is easy! In this first Gang Building post, we will show you how to take a handful of miniatures and turn them into a powerful fighting force. The first thing you will need to do is select a few of your favorite miniatures. Five models is usually a good size an average 400 Fame Point game.

The photo above represents our first Fantasy Guild, The Town Watch, using miniatures from Dungeon Saga from Mantic Games. From left to right, we have Artax the Barbarian, Nalassa the Elven Archer, Lord Grayson of the City Guard, the young wizard Michael and Sister Philomena.

When you start building your characters, just take a look at your miniatures, and figure out how you would like them to be equipped and what skills they should have. Let’s show you how we did it, starting with Lord Grayson, the leader of the Guild.... Read more at SkirmishGames.com!

Thanks!

And yes there will be some typos it’s still in playtest mode anyway. I will be paying a real proofreader toward the end when we start working on printed books. Right now I just want to get it out there so to speak.

For the next update I am probably going to separate the fantasy rules into their own add-on PDF, and then work on adding the next supplement, “Steampunk & Westerns” .. but that will take a little while to put together.

Sci Fi will be #3 It's probably going to have a lot of content, and will include mechs too. As far as the rules go, mechs will basically just be treated like suits of armor granting you extra health, but will also allow you to equip heavy weapons. Heavy weapons are just like normal ones, only they do 2 HP worth of damage per wound instead of 1.

I wanted to start with Fantasy since that will be like the foundation to build off of. All of the supplements are designed to work together too, so like if you wanted an Eldar gang you can use the elf stats, but give them sci fi guns & skills.

The full gameworld rulebooks will be more self contained though, everything you need to play that game will be in it's book. Lair of the Wurmqueen will be our Fantasy gameworld and that will be the first book, so that's also why I want to get the core fantasy rules going first

We’ve gotten a many requests to bring rules for the Savage Beasts from Blackwater Gulch into our new Fantasy rules, so here they are!

These Beasts now make up the 4th Fantasy faction. We’ve added many “Animal Affinities” to cover a lot of the more common fantasy creatures out there. For example, a Minotaur would use the Bull affinity, a Centaur would use the Horse affinity, a Satyr would use the Goat affinity, and so on.

Visit SkirmishGames.com to read more and download the updated rules!

Howdy folks!

We are planning a new Kickstarter for Blackwater Gulch sometime this summer, we're getting some new minis sculpted now. Here is the first preview, Janey Bower, a Moonshiner and member of the monster hunting gang, The Unsung. This is a WIP shot, she still needs a lot of details, but she's well on her way.

Also, like us on Facebook if you'd like to follow along with the progress, We'll be posting more pictures more frequently over there

Also got the files for the Jackalope, I'll do some renders and post pics of him tonight or tomorrow.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Oh and, yes you can also toss dynamite She's got bottles of booze since she's a moonshiner, prospectors and miners usually the ones that have sticks of dynamite to play with

Got the Jackalope files, so here is an updated render showing him with the Werebear and Nightshade again. This time I turned off the forced perspective so you can see the sizes better

I don't think they were called moltov cocktails till later on, like maybe one of the world wars? In BWG they call it a Burnin' Bottle of Booze, but that's too long so I was planning to just change it to Firewater in the 2.0 rules

Her dress is equipped with space age polymer tendrils woven into the fabric, allowing glass to adhere to her clothing!

Actually it would probably be a piece of string or something wrapped around the bottle and the belt. I can see if they can add a strap or something around the bottles

She won’t be available for a little while unfortunately. We’re planning to do a Kickstarter probably in July or August. She will be part of a 4-mini starter pack for the new gang, The Unsung. There will also be a new Beast starter pack and an undead starter pack. The campaign will be to fund the production of those 3 sets, but since the sculpts will be done ahead of time the production afterwards shouldn’t take much longer.

Yes, rules are free Well, electronic version is free, if you want a book that will cost you. But, once my current supply is sold out I’m planning to switch over to print-on-demand through Wargame Vault. Unless the Kickstarter goes amazingly well and we end up able to fund a nice printed hardback rulebook, but honestly right now I’d rather focus on just getting lots of cool minis done.

I’m getting the concepts done for the undead faction now. They will be based on the Wendigo tribes, basically native American versions of vampires, along with some revenant gunslingers and zombie minions. Here’s a Wendigo, Zombie and Rake.. I’ll share newer art when I get it

Just got screenshots for Janey's final sculpt. Here she is, lots more detail added to the dress and stuff. And you'll notice there's a little string holding the bottles in place now

The Werecatcher is out now!

The Werecatcher is a special artillery piece, designed to keep wily critters from running around. It’s fearsome silver blades are based on the classic witchcatcher, but modified to capture much bigger prey. You can order it from our online store for $10.

http://store.gangfightgames.com/blackwater-gulch/infamous-gangs/hired-guns-artillery/werecatcher/

Also, I just got the new sculpt for Wampus, the alpha werecat and leader of the new beast pack, the Wormwood Wardens. He’ll be joined by the Werebear and Jackalope, and also a Werebat who’s being sculpted now.

I usually post WIP shots and more on our Facebook page, so stop by and “like" us

Thanks

Next up we have Colin Buchanan. A gunslinger who once worked as an engineer for the Blackwater Rail Line and is arch nemisis of The Norwegian. Now he works with the Unsung, putting his skills to good use creating all sorts of monster killing implements like the Werecatcher.

Don just finished the new cover art for Blackwater Gulch. We’ll be using this for the cover of the new rulebook next year, and other places like the BWG website and KS campaign.

Thanks I dig it, he really captured the feeling I'm going for.

I think Ruthie is my favorite.. trying to banish with her holy relic, and if that doesn't work a shotgun to the face oughta do the trick.

After receiving a lot of feedback, we finally updated the core rules and Fantasy Setting Supplement to playtest version 1.2.

Click here to download the new rules now!

There are a lot of tweaks, grammar and spelling fixes. The major differences now is that we have switched to a level-based equipment listing, similar to Blackwater Gulch. Heroes may equip any weapons. Gang Members may equip items up to level 4. Henchmen & Minions may equip items up to level 2.

We've also added maximums to the attributes based on the character type. Heroes can have natural attributes up to 5, Members up to 4, Henchmen & Minions up to 3. Special skills, racial bonuses or items can raise your attributes above the max, however.

Which also brings me to the races. In the included Fantasy Setting Supplement, you may notice that we did away with the base racial attribute lists. Now, you may choose your own stats, and you character's race will grant him a +1 to a given attribute.

Lastly, the list of Universal Skills is not universal anymore. We've moved that over to the Fantasy Setting Supplement. Each additional setting we add later will come with its own list of skills. Many may be repeated, but we'll use different and more "fluffy" names for each setting, but there will be some unique skills too.

We hope you enjoy the new rules, and don't forget to follow us on Facebook for all the latest updates!

Got some new artwork today, and I finally have all 5 characters for The Wicked. They will be the undead themed gang in the Kickstarter. I haven't come up with cool character names yet, but from left to right we have a Wendigo, Rake, Brujah, Ghoul and Revenant. These guys/girl are for the starter set, there will be more added in with 3-man booster packs too. I have a new sculptor who's just starting on these guys now, I'll show them off as soon as they're done!

Next up we have Miss Lavoe, leader of The Wicked. We deviated from her concept art a bit and had to lose the strand of feathers under the skull since that wouldn't be able to cast good, and decided to drop the skull mask.

Yeah that’s what I was going for Her gang will have lots of creepy things, not just undead. Thinking of some other types to add to her gang later, probably the Mothman, or Tall/Slender man, or black eyed children. Was thinking about adding something like the monster from the movie Jeepers Creepers, he wears a trench coat and big hat, so he fits!

We’ll have to add exploding outhouses to the rules Or maybe just flammable terrain pieces.. like if someone using the terrain piece for cover is hit by firewater or a stick of dynamite, it will explode too. Then we could also have things like powder kegs or crates full of TNT.

I have a few more new sculpts to share! First, here is Ruthie Mae of the Unsung. She's a preacher carrying a holy relic and a big shotgun. I just asked to sculptor to remove the cross on her forehead, since I thought it would be too small to look right on the final mini

Next up here is Charlie Graves, a revenant gunslinger working with The Wicked, followed by another Wicked creature, a demon named The Rake (he's based on the rake monster urban legend)

You can click them to see the larger pics in the gallery. Hope ya like em, I'll share more as I get em!

Thanks and yeah he's got some knuckles there where the hands meet the blades, they were more curved int he art but we decided to keep them straight so that the mini can be 1 piece and easier to cast.

I was thinking of having the hands be like the little metal hands on the old Necron flayed ones, but I never liked how they worked, they always broke off too easy.
