Me and a friend are thinking of entering this in june. It will be our first AOS Tournament. After Reading MongooseMatt's event write ups from Warhammer world it looks worth a go.

Looking at the event pack they talk of only 15 models each, 30 models combined. easy!

Now the dilemma. do I,

A: Take my stormcast army ( plenty of miniatures to choose from in my collection ). My friend plays Chaos so stormcast wouldnt be too fluffy but it is ready to go.

Or

B: Do I start the small Death army I have been trying to find an excuse to build. I have just over 2 months to build and paint.

With such a low model cap, starting the Death army and getting it all finished in time could be a good project. Can always fall back on the SC if things get in the way.

Uh... I've been railroaded into starting Fyreslayers just for this event... Ulp.

You could do something that works well with your friend's Chaos, perhaps, filling in any weaknesses he has or units that can work in conjunction. I'd guess the humble core trooper will not be the priority at this tournament. The starter box with the mortarch is worth it even if you only plan to use that model plus maybe the knights. Perhaps morghast. I'm no Death expert though. I don't think you can go wrong, but you probably do want at least one big baddie and not just a 15-man skeleton unit.

yeah, his chaos army is Khorne throughout. so no shooty shooty just stabby stabby and no magic. The Death army could fill the gaps with magic I guess.
A mortarch and morghasts I think are a must. plus maybe some Knights.

Any ideas on army composition from anyone who has attended any of these events?

I know this isn't what you were asking for at all. But wouldn't a cool mounted chaos Warband like this be awesome!? It's been haunting my dreams and whispering at me for weeks now - must.resist.starting.new.project.....

Bottle. My friend who I am going to this event with runs this exact list but a lord on manticore. That's bizarre!!
