Hi, I'm going to a tournament this week and am almost settled on a list. Tourney rules don't restrict detachments but limit lords of war 0-1. The core will be made up of this:

Guard CAD 908pts

CCS with MOO 80pts
3 Priests 75pts

2 Infantry Platoons, consisting of these units:

Platoon command squad with Autocannon + bolter 41pts
Platoon command squad with Autocannon + bolter 41pts

2 Combined Squads 142pts
2 Lascannons
2 Bolters
Accompanied by Priest

2 Combined Infantry squads, 2 autocannons, 2 bolters 122pts (accompanied by inquisitor)

40 conscripts accompanied by a priest and Coteaz 120pts
35 conscripts accompanied by a priest 105pts

Wyvern 65pts
Wyvern 65pts
Wyvern 65pts

Inquisiton –134pts

Coteaz 100pts
Inquisitor with 3 skulls 34pts


Ravenwing attack squadron - 195pts

3 Bikers – 2 Grav + Combi Grav 115pts
LS with MM and AC 80pts

Ravenwing attack squadron - 195pts

3 Bikers – 2 Grav + Combi Grav 115pts
LS with 2 MMs 75pts

The plan: conscripts (with priests + coteaz) advance towards the enemy and get stuck in to infantry. Wyverns, platoons and command squads bombard the enemy from afar. The ravenwing will outflank in most cases to turn up and knock out hard targets and backfield artillery.

I'm unsure what to do with the last 60 points.

Option 1 - add another 10 man squad with autocannon to the autocannon-armed platoon

Option 2 - add two small psychic henchmen squads: 4 henchmen with bolters and 1 psyker (2 extra mastery levels plus a little extra firepower from the bolters)

What do you think? Other suggestions are open

Turns out the tournament have just changed the rules on me at the last minute requiring a rethink! Now all but 25% of the list must be from a single CAD. Here's my proposed solution with my available models:

Guard CAD

Company Command Squad with Master of the Ordnance 80pts
3 Priests 75pts

5 man scion squad with 2 melta guns 90pts

Two Infantry Platoons, consisting of these units:

Platoon command squad with Autocannon + bolter 41pts
Platoon command squad with Autocannon + bolter 41pts

3 Combined Platoon Infantry Squads 223pts
• 3 Lascannon heavy weapon teams
• 3 Bolters (on the sergeants)
• 2 melta bombs
• Accompanied by Priest

2 Combined Platoon Infantry Squads 127pts
• 2 autocannon heavy weapon teams
• 2 Bolters (on the sergeants)
• 1 melta bomb
• Accompanied by inquisitor

45 conscripts (accompanied by a priest and Coteaz) 135pts
40 conscripts (accompanied by a priest) 120pts

Inquisition Detachment – 178pts

Coteaz 100pts
Inquisitor with 3 servo skulls 34pts
Henchmen warband – psyker, 4 bolter acolytes, 1 acolyte with plasma gun 44pts

Ravenwing attack squadron - 195pts (land speeders gain scout and +1BS bonus if bikers target a unit hit by the land speeder)

3 Ravenwing Bikers – 2 Grav Guns and Combi Grav Gun on sergeant 115pts
Ravenwing Land speeder with multi melta and assault cannon 80pts


The main choice was whether to drop the inquisition or one of the ravenwing attack squadrons... I went for dropping an attack squadron, and using some scions as a poor man's landspeeder to fill in. Was it the right call? On the plus side, i've cementedmy horde adavantage. I've gained an additional 20 models on the previous list...
