Here is another Harlequin Solitaire that I got to have a go at. The challenge was to do him up in black and white, but it was all about the subtle differences in the black- some of it has a little more red and some a little more blue to it, and I actually went through quite a few other colors as I highlighted it up.

Hopefully, some of those things show up in the pictures:

Great painting. Subtle blending. Your gems looks good too.
Kinda feel that this model needs a bit more colour though, perhaps his pants.

The model is nice, and the red on the legs works well. The base lets it down though, the drybrushing looks a little rough and quickly done, and the highlight colour doesn't work with the base colour.

Beautiful gems though.

Thanks.

The concept for this character was for him to be in black and white- and to only work with colors that can be added to the black and white areas (the gems are the exception.

My client wanted him to stand out from the rest of the Harlequins who all have saturated primary colors on them.

Looks great man. I like the idea of the shunned harlie looking all gloomy and dark. Dig it.

Looks good to me and you clearly meet the clients intent. Lovely model.
