One of my opponents boasts that he can take away my infantry squads ability to revive if he kills the arch demagogue with the master of the horde devotion by using his vindicare assasin. If the vindicare cant do it turn one, he want to deep strike 8 pods with as many marines with flamers as close to the arch demigogue to do so. He also breaking out his thunder fire cannons to barrage the arch demagogue if i hide it out of sight.

I have already private messaged Tomb King who plays and participates in ITC RTT GT events and gwarsh41. Both concluded it doesnt work that way and the killing of the arch demagogue with the master of the horde rule wont remove the infantry squads ability to revive because its an army wide buff and army special rule nit a personal war gear.

I even showed the guy screen shots of the private message explaination. However he dismissed that Tomb King and gwarsh41 are no experts but people with their own interpretation of the rules and that dakkadakka is not a legitimate and official source to cite or clarify the rules.

I decided not to play this Gladius player however he has told several other players that his interpretation is right and to play it like that because he has worked for GW and even help write some of the past books many years ago. I am talking about a Gandalf of neck beards, long grey beard.

Omg, can any of you guys help me find official sources to settle this? I keep showing him my pdf rules and he reinforces his interpretation.

There isn't anything official on this. Your only hope is to email Forge World and try and use that as an official source (which honestly may not even work since you group only sounds awful and probably doesn't matter what you do they are just being terrible people).

The only other thing i can suggest is that Master of Horde doesn't make an requirement that you have to be on the table to work so hide your warlord in reserves so he can't get sniped. That will at least let you respawn units for a couple of turns.

You could probably have Mr "I worked for GW" read the rules a few more times.

The conditions for the squads to respawn are "bought as part of the same army as the demagogue" and "numbering at least 15 models".

Imperial Armour 5 - The Siege of Vraks - Second Edition - Page 238

The Demagogue is alive when you buy the squads, if they are 15 models when you buy them there is no need for further discussion.

You can turn around the discussion after pointing it out, make him actually prove his point by showing you where in the Rule books does it says that the Demagogue being removed would also remove the respawn ability.

Tom Kirby and Kevin Roundtree could swear to all the gods that Sternguard can charge out of Rhinos, they would still not be able to prove it to you with any book currently in use.

Honestly, it is like saying "if I kill your chapter master, you lose chapter tactics". Arch demagogue devotions function more like chapter tactics than anything else. They modify the entire army, and rarely need the demagogue to stay alive for said changes to stay in place.
Dysorange nailed it, have him point out anywhere in the book where it says your AD needs to be alive/on the table for the effect to be in play. Or that it will end on death.
