I'm building a Shadow Strike Kill Team (Can charge the turn it deepstrikes) and I'm having second thoughts before I put the models together after collecting all the bits.

I currently planned to build a unit with Powerfists and Lightning Claws. I thought this was a good combo, considering I can pull an extra attack out of the Powerfists for a small fee due to Specialist Weapon, as well as giving the unit versatility and not getting stuck always fighting at Initiative Step 1 by giving them a Lightning Claw which will also get the extra attack, and be better vs less threatening targets.

However, I am starting to lean towards a... More expensive build. Combining Powerfists with Grav-Pistols... With this method I can try to remove models in the shooting phase before getting stuck at initiative step 1 due to unwieldy, hoping to give my unit a better chance at surviving that combat. But, at the thought of paying the price for that unit, I backed it up again;

So, Power Axes and Grav-pistols... A great point saver, but it isn't nearly as versatile as the first unit I described.

Thoughts? Opinions? Other ideas for a unit meant to remove a threatening 2+ sv unit from the board?

If you want to use Grav Pistols, I'd go with one, maybe two, purely for the concussive hit on a Monstrous Creature - that way your unwieldy stuff gets to swing at the same time.

Concussive isn't entirely necessary so long as you have enough bodies to keep your hidden Power Fists safe.

VV are still a balancing act between points and effectiveness. With the discounts they get on gear, it’s a lot better these days though.

I would personally avoid the more expensive options. These are still 1W, T4 3+ guys.

Axes are the way to go. Hard to beat at 5ppm. You probably want a few SSs to tank AP2-3 fire that comes in.

It might be worth including a hidden powerfist. Or a few meltabombs. Both will open up potential targets.

I like the concept of the axe/sword vet. When mulching MEQ you can still hit at initiative, but have the axe for TEQ. With the discounted power weapons, this is much more palatable. And looks cool.
