So, I really like the Insect/Arachnid models from the Necron line. I was thinking of building either a CAD and/or a couple of Canoptek Harvest Formations. Then, I just happen to look on FW and found the Canoptek Tomb Stalker and Canoptek Tomb Sentinel. These models look amazing! But, I was wondering if anyone had run these formations or used these FW models in any of their Necron armies. Any suggestions (for or against) on building a Necron army based around the insect/arachnid looking creatures would be appreciated.

I'd want to use these models or ones similar to them:
Canoptek Wraiths
Canoptek Spyders
Canoptek Scarabs
Canoptek Tomb Stalkers
Canoptek Tomb Sentinels
Canoptek Acanthrites
Triarch Stalkers

Thanks in advance

SG

Are you seriously asking if anyone has built an army around Wraiths, Scarabs, and Spiders?...

Active armies, still collecting and painting First and greatest love - Orks, Orks, and more Orks largest pile of shame, so many tanks unassembled most complete and painted beautiful models, couldn't resist the swarm will consume all
Armies in disrepair: nothing new since 5th edition oh how I want to revive, but mostly old fantasy demons and some glorious Soul Grinders in need of love

Yeah, I'm honestly wondering. This seems much more like a fluff army than an actual a competitive one. So, I'm curious if anyone has actually built this kind of fluff style army. Or, is a Necron army built around Wraiths, Scarabs, Spiders, Centipedes, and other insect type creatures actually competitive?

Thanks

SG

You'll have to excuse Grumblewartz for his rudeness. The Canoptek Harvest formation is easily the strongest Necron formation. The only thing we have that is arguably better is the Destroyer Cult. The only problem (if you would even call it a problem) is that there are no characters and thus no possible Canoptek Warlord.

Canoptek Harvest is easily the strongest and Destroyer cult is even better. What?

Between

I've run a Scarab Farm led by a Tomb Stalker since the Stalker model was released (before that, it was led by a regular Lord).

It's pretty fun. I don't really use Wraiths though.

I actually have exactly this kind of army! In my list I run Illuminor Szeras as HQ since he has spider legs, I do a Tomb Stalker and two Triarch Stalkers as my elites, since they all are spidery, I do some immortals and warriors, a ghost ark for Szeras to ride in and give out his buffed RP, then I do two Scarab squads and two Spyders, then finally I have a Canoptek Harvest formation with maxed out Wraiths.

Ends up being a fairly fluffy, spider themed list.

Just make sure you get a heroclix spider man figure and when people ask why he's spawning scarabs tell them he can do everything a spyder can.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"
