So I'm building a slaughtercult and I'm trying to make it fun and fluffy for a group of gaming friends that are trying to forge that narrative. I'm stuck at the first hurdle though - the warbands name. I am using a slaughter priest from age of sigmar as my chaos Lord (with some minor additions to make it more 40K-ish) I think the model is stunning and fits the feel I want my cult to have.

So the only one I've come up with so far is 'The harbingers of Slaughter'. But I'm not sure if that's too cheesy or not?

Some of these are really cool. I like the visceral hunt and the skull reavers particularly. I thought I was pretty set on the eternal slaughter now I'm back to being unsure.

The novel Legion of the Damned, has a khorne warband called the Cholercaust, which is such a great name

Not to be particular but "Red Hunters" are an Inquisition aligned Space Marines Chapter.

"The Eternal Slaughter" sounds just fine if that's what you like.

Any idea what backstory you're going to go with? With a name like that and using a fantasy model (or a few) as a base for your army, I think a Norse Warrior/Valhalla-seeker theme would be cool. They want to engage in epic combat with powerful opponents and rack up amazing kills so that when they die they'll fight at Khorne's side for eternity in a glorious afterlife.

It also gives you a chance to make them a Khorne band that's still brutal and blood thirsty, but kind of sympathetic and admirable in a weird way. Like the War Boys in Mad Max: Fury Road. "We'll ride eternal: shiny and chrome."

Just a thought.

I love that idea. That they don't bother fighting petty foes and only seek glorious opponents. And that they have to feel their opponent worthy of their blades. I also like the idea of them kind of being sympathetic of weak meaningless foes.

It's been a while.

I switched fire to my eldar for some tournaments as that was built and half painted. Now I'm back on project khorne. Decided I want to take this to a tournament too. But I want to have a decent back story for these guys. Hoping people here will help.

So, I've gone for 'The Eternal Slaughter'. I'm using A Daemonkin CAD. The list is a pimped out lord with a jugganaut with the axe of ruin. (Though the jugganaut is a hound on the base, there's a reason). He is accompanied by 10 flesh hounds. (There's the reason).

There's two units of bloodletters, 2 maulerfiends, 2 heldrakes, a chaos knight and a d thirster.

So, help. I need a name for the lord and the thirster. And a background for them all.

Just want to say that I love this fluff background. I feel like the 'there are no good guys in 40k' theme's polar opposite is forgotten quite frequently: 'there are no bad guys either'. It's a much more real-world take on a fantasy universe.

For me the best explanation for life on chaos worlds is 'an alternate human civilisation, using a different technology tree to the Imperium'. Sort of like the Blood Pact.

The idea that a society might have a perfectly valid culture, based around an acceptance of the powers of the chaos gods, is a very nice foil to the usual 'they're all bonkers mad zealots!' angle that chaos cults are usually portrayed as.

Not that there's anything wrong with bonkers mad zealots, of course. Plenty of room in 40k for those
