I have 2 camps.
1. Intervening models includes shooting thru your own models so enemy gets a cover save if your men are in the way.
2. Intervening models only includes enemies models not yours sk you can shoot thru your models and they don't get a cover save.
Which way is widely accepted?

It is any third unit. (models not from the firer’s unit, or from the target unit) friendly or enemy.

Surprisingly 'Intervening Models' in the Shooting phase section of the rulebook is abundantly clear on this.

Nice exert from the Rule Book. Try giving an exact quote and/or page number next time.
@Grief:
On page 38, it says the following:
If a target is partially obscured from the firer by models from a third unit (models not from the firer's unit, or from the target unit), it receives a 5+ Cover Save in the same way as if it was behind terrain.
So essentially if the there are models that obscure line of sight between the firing unit and the target (regardless of the controlling player), then that's classified as Intervening Models and the cover save is given to the target.

Excuse me? I've no obligation at all to do so, especially given his question was answered and that, importantly, Dakka is not a replacement for the rulebook when the answer can be easily looked up with the simple reference I gave.
Also, it's "excerpt".

I'm sorry but I don't understand how this is even a thread. GW is guilty of writing crap rules, but this topic is covered clearly enough in the BRB.

Politeness goes a long way. You could at least give a page reference.

And you've never overlooked a rule while reading through the BRB?

But he did give a page reference:
Mr. Shine wrote:Surprisingly 'Intervening Models' in the Shooting phase section of the rulebook is abundantly clear on this.
An exact quote is not needed when it is explicit, and this forum is not a replacement for the rulebook.
Also, Not everyone has the dead tree version on hand to reference the page number or use the same book when receiving the answer. In addition, looking it up by such a reference helps familiarize one with whichever copy they are using without relying on a reference that is not universal anymore.

Referring to the appropriate section heading is sufficient these days, as digital versions of the rulebook don't have page numbers.
Asked and answered. Moving on.
