I'm due to enter my first organised league - I'll be running my Blood Angels. Looking for any advice on my list.

I could be taking on any army, so tried to make it suitable for all situations with meltaguns & multimeltas to pop tanks, Heavy Bolters and flamers for infantry/hordes & Missile Launchers and assault Cannons for tank and infantry

Got the list to 1,850 bang on the nose (according to battlescribe)

General Idea is that Astorath runs with an assault squad, Librarian runs with assault squad, command squad deep strikes in to to take out major targets with either flamers or meltagun shots

HQs
Astorath
Librarian - Jump Pack, Mastery Level 2, comb melta

Elites
Command Squad - 5 man, Jump Packs, 1 x Company Champion, 1 x Sanguinary Novitiate, 2 x Veterans (each veteran has a flamer and a meltagun)

Troops
Tactical Squad - 5 man, Sergeant has hand flamer, 1 x meltagun, 3 x marines + Razorback with TL assault cannons
Tactical Squad - 5 man, Sergeant has hand flamer, 1 x meltagun, 3 x marines + Razorback with TL assault cannons
Tactical Squad - 5 man, Sergeant has hand flamer, 1 x meltagun, 3 x marines + Razorback with TL assault cannons

Fast Attack
Assault Squad - 5 man, Jump Packs, Sergeant has hand flamer, 1x meltagun, 1 x flamer, 2 x marines
Assault Squad - 5 man, Jump Packs, Sergeant has hand flamer, 1x meltagun, 1 x flamer, 2 x marines
Bike Squad - 5 man, Sergeant has hand flamer, 1 x flamer, 1 x meltagun, 2 x biker marines + Attack Bike with Multimelta

Heavy Support
Devastator Squad - 5 man, 4 x Missile Launchers
Devastator Squad - 5 man, 4 Heavy Bolter
Stormraven Gunship - TL assault Cannons, Hurricane Bolter Sponsons, TL Heavy Bolter

Personally I always prefer to specialize the units I take. I feel like if they have a specific role to play then I won't be confused on what I am doing with them.

Based on the weapons you chose for the razorbacks carrying your tacticals you're going for an in your face approach given the short range. I'd kit those tacticals out with flamers instead of melta guns. One melta gun shot isn't going to do much unless you are lucky, which I am not, so I usually take a combi melta with the tac squad if I am taking a melta.

For your assault squads I would kit them out with Meltas, 2 x Meltas and a combi melta. Ditch the jump packs and get a free Drop pod. This way they can get as close to their intended target as luck will allow the first turn they are on the board and pop a vehicle with 3 melta shots.

I would also ditch the flamers in your bike squad and add another melta. Make them specialized tank hunters and due to their speed they'll threaten just about anything on the table with turn 2.

I don't know what your meta is like but heavy bolters in mine would be completely wasted. I would drop them and the command squad and load up with as many of the Death Company as I could get, add on jump Packs and toss Astorath and your Librarian (ditch the combi melta, maybe give him a combi flamer) in with them and enjoy as they go tearing across the field.

That's just my opinion though and it really depends on what you have model wise. Good luck though.

I only have the one drop pod, and don't have time to build nother 2 and get them painted up

the idea with swapped the meltas for flamers isn't a bad idea actually, I threw a mixture in as I don't know how muc armour/bodies I'm likely to come up against, so having both gives me versatility to hit either target.

I've only played a couple of people from the club as I've only just discovered them so not entirely sure about the current meta, however, on the club forum the rules of the league advise about nonOP lists, so it's not going to be up against the toughest of the tough!

Might drop the heavy bolters and swap for plasma cannons, tweks th points about a bit

Well, give that drop pod a try and see how much you like it with your assault squad. It's a reliable alpha strike/first blood unit. Well as reliable as can be expected with dice games.

Although it's been greatly reduced in 7th with priests being HQ and one per slot. And their effect is attached squad only, not 6" bubble isn't it? Have to go Death Company heavy to get lots of FnP nowadays.
