I'm guessing there's probably going to be a surprise or two in the Imperial Veterans kit, and as I was thinking about building a list with a Defender and a bomber, the thing I found myself really wanting was a bomber that could take a system upgrade.

I was mainly thinking about it in terms of the advanced sensors to take actions/bomb before moving, but I could see some of the others being useful too... ATC on a bomber with deadeye is another combination that comes to mind.

What do you think? Useful and cool? Utterly useless (or never gonna happen because it steals the thunder of the punisher) ? Or too good and broken?

This is available. It's called a TIE Punisher.

I know a few ships that would gladly trade their modification slot for a system slot. So a mod that adds a system slot for a cost or something like that would be cool.

But yes, this describes the punisher exactly.

Also, advanced targeting computer is labeled as TIE Advanced only. So unfortunately, it's not open for a bomber.

That all being said, there are a few cards/upgrades that weren't spoiled before, and there's always the hope that a gem hides there!

Other than the fact that the ATC is a only for the TIE Advanced, it also doesn't work with secondary weapons.

Also, Guidance Chips and Extra Munitions are already great upgrades for the TIE Bomber if it's carrying missiles/torpedoes. Really, the best upgrade for the ship will be the TIE Shuttle title that allows it to carry a crew member.

Aside from the Punisher being of questionable provenance and IMO even more questionable design, I suppose I'm asking for what might seem like duplication because none of the Punisher options have an EPT (slot as far as I can tell... clearly I've made mistakes )

I'd rather not see upgrades to the Punisher, I would rather see the Bomber get buffed.

Also, the shuttle is cool, but it's a rather different direction of upgrade than I was thinking about

The Bomber is getting buffed, included a PS5 generic with access to an Elite Upgrade for 19 points. They also get a PS 8 ace that can reuse single use Elite Upgrades.

I'd want to get Crack Shot, Tactician and Rebel Captive. Shoot them, Stress and Cause some damage, then Stress on the return shot.

Tactician and Mara Jade isn't a great pairing, because Mara can't add a (second) stress token.

Fleet Officers might work well for shuttle crew, too. Trading a cheap shuttle's action for free focus for two other ships is probably a good trade.

Mara works at R1, Tactican at R2.

I fully acknowledge it won't be the most popular build, should the whole concept even really break into what could be called popular, but a 5 white K Turn, as well as opening up the 2 speed turn, plus barrel roll, could really allow a ship to fly in and around the fur ball and really be a nuisance, there's little scope for a Shuttle to dump major damage on anyone, so it's either support or inhibition where it's going to work.

No she can't but sticking a stress causing blocker in the right place, especially one that doesn't need an fire arc, will sting a lot of lists and providing you don't die you can K-Turn next go and plink away at R2 with the Tact

I'm not sure about Fleet Officer on the Bombers, it's a strong action but I think it will take some very careful flying to make sure it keeps up with everything else as (I think) the Bomber's greens are limited to a few forwards,

But why spend 30 points for something that may be useful when you can spend 18 points for something that's probably just as good (and not unique)?

I'll grant you that it has the potential to deal lots of stress, but a halfway decent player isn't going to give you the opportunity to do it.

Yeeps I didn't think Bren was such a jump in points, might be worth a try on a base Bomber still, although you lose the Rush

That's a plain Bomber vs Bren + upgrades, as a stress lump, with the same upgrades, a plain bomber runs at 23 vs 30, a point of which is accounted for by simp,y not being able to take an EPT, but with the commensurate drop in maneuverability (or damage output of going crack shot) and the drop in PS making the position for both Mara and Tactician that much more difficult. If one is just going to run cheap blockers, then why not just an academy TIE?

If one takes the Veteran then that goes to 25, and, of course, makes the EPT a one off.

I'll happily admit that it probably doesn't warrant the extra investment, but I'm intrigued enough to try it at some point.

Indeed, everything is worth trying, I even flyed a Star-Viper once !

The cheapest generic bomber with Tactician is 18 points, which is a total steal no matter which way you slice it and what I was using as a comparison. Bren loaded with Tactician, Adrenaline Rush, and Mara Jade is 30 points and unique. Sure he's pretty maneuverable, but also predictable. On top of that, he's still just a TIE Bomber (with two agility, no evade, and no shields to soak up crits) and at his point cost, you'd more or less have to build a list around him.

Man I wish the punisher could have an EPT that would be fantastic but I guess that is one thing that FFG wants to keep a difference between bombers and punishers. Besides a punisher's upgrade bar is entirely full the only way I can see them getting an EPT is from a title
