Hello all,

As part of my current project to rebuild my Reaver Titan, and give it the paintjob it deserves, I'm looking into the possibility of magnetising the weapons so they can be removed/changed later on. I tried magnetising it when I first built it, and while the magnets I bought were stated to be able to hold the weight of the weapon, they would fall apart given the slightest movement. This was probably due to the unbalanced weapon putting additional strain on the magnets.

Anyway, I used E-Magnets Uk before, and am considering using them again, but does anyone know what size or strength would be needed for such weapons?

Additionally, this is a question for those who've bought additional weapons in the past. I'm hoping to get a Power Fist for the Reaver one day, simply because it looks too awesome to pass up. Is the Power Fist compatible with the Laser Blaster attachments or are they entirely separate, meaning if I magnetised the Laser Blaster where it attached to the arm, would the Power Fist also attach at that point or somewhere else on the model, such as the shoulder?

Thanks,

They are surprisingly strong. For example, this titan uses 1 for each large gun, the torso hip joint, three for each arm (which is super overkill) and two for the legs to the base. Solid as a rock, I cant recommend them enough.

Spoiler:

No sole magnet would hold solid resin in place; you need to think outside the box. I recommend using round ring magnets with pins.

First drill a deep tight hole for pinning, use brass rods, do not use bendable paper clip when dealing with weighted resin. Do not insert nor glue the rod in until you've drill a hole for the ring magnet. I recommend using 1mm x 5mm with the hole about 2mm in diameter. You may want other sizes base on your needs.

You probably need thickness pass the 1mm, so glue however many magnets together as you need, usually 2 on each side is suffice.

How about these:

Each type includes the pull in g / kg which should help in your choice.
I have used this company a few times before & always been satisfied with their service.

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

The Power Fist does not use a ball-socket attachment like the laser weapons do. it is a flat joint.

With some work you could give it a ball and fit it anyway, it's what I plan to.
