So for next week's store tournament I'm playing around with some of the options that have opened up now that I have the Core II and TIE/ fo expansion (up to 3 first order TIEs and 2 "old school" but no Howlrunner so a standard swarm is probably out) and I could use some advice.
I feel like I'm still having enough problems estimating ranges and maneuvers that the fragile arc dodging ships kinda still need to stay in the box for a while (bumped Turr Phennir into an enemy ship at Range 1 of another--> dead interceptor)... so I'm back to thinking about a Defender build that doesn't need the forthcoming titles as much as a centerpiece.
So one idea was this:
==================
Defend To The End
==================
Colonel Vessery (38)
TIE Defender (35), Tractor beam (1), Veteran Instincts (1), Twin Ion Engine Mk. II (1)
Omega Squadron Pilot (18) x 2
TIE/fo Fighter (17), Crack Shot (1)
“Omega Leader” (26)
TIE/fo Fighter (21), Comm Relay (3), Juke (2)
Since the /fo ships can TL I thought they'd be a good boost for Vessery who can potentially use the tractor beam for R3 shots to help out the other 3.
Then there's this idea:
100 points
------
Rexler Brath (41)
TIE Defender (37), Push the Limit (3), Twin Ion Engine Mk. II (1)
“Omega Ace” (23)
TIE/fo Fighter (20), Push the Limit (3)
“Epsilon Leader” (19)
Epsilon Squadron Pilot (17)
TIE/fo Fighter (15), Weapons Guidance (2)
I'd probably try to run the 3 FOs as a formation to keep Omega ace and Epsilon leader together with Rexler as a loose part of the group...
I dunno, I'm open to suggestions for how to bestuse 1-3 new TIE/ fo ships in my lists
