So I have something in the range of 30,000 cards (probably more) and i need a good way to store them that will keep them protected. Anyone have any good suggestions? I have everything from hyborian gates to galactic empires, to the old 90's pokemon cards, a healthy does of MTG, lots of Babylon 5 cards and some Battletech cards.

5,000 count boxes on shelves?

If you have high-end money cards, get some plastic sleeves/cases for them. If you go with binders, be careful about how you store them so the pages don’t get bent.

I put my game cards into plastic card sleeves, to protect them from wear and tear when playing. On one occasion this saved a game of Citadels from damage due to spilled beer.

This isn't storage as such, and you might do better with the type of sleeve that clips into a three-ring binder, if your collection is for the long-term increase in value, rather than regular play.

I sleeve cards using UltraPro (might be better sleeves out there, but they are cheap enough if plain and have designs I like, such as Toad from MarioBros) and use deck boxes for my decks. For cards I don't use but still have, binders to protect.

For old cards that I don't care much for but still use from time to time, they are lined up like books inside a shoebox. If I ain't using them, then they are likely to stay in decent condition.

My star wars CCG cards were kept in these boxes that you can find online for 5 or 6 bucks, each:

Yup. Those boxes work wonders. At one point I was going to buy enough for all my cards, but only a few made the transition. The rest just stayed in the more common, single row boxes.

My baseball cards are in the narrow boxes.

That is to say, my completely worthless cardboard pieces showing pictures and stats from major league ball players from the mid 80s to early 90s are in narrow boxes. Sorted by year and manufacturer.

I use sleeves of cards in boxes, or binders myself.
