Main idea is for troops to push for objectives. Lib and Priest join the command squad and push forward while the vindicator and whirlwind provide covering fire. Objective for them to go after the warlord right away and lock it into close combat. Priest gives +1ws and also feel no pain if the novitiate falls. Lib will buff squad while vets will absorb gunfire at the front.

Any reason for combi meltas, rather than regular meltaguns?

Mainly for the additional range when out of cc.

If im in the rhino and not moving flat out or out of cc and not running it gives me that additional distance to shoot something. I should change maybe 1 or 2 to melta guns.

Your command squad seems kind of all over the place with the role that they are in. As cool as Storm Shields look I've found that they are a total waste of points on veterans. I would ditch the storm shields, ditch the power fist, the company champ, and the sanguinary novitiate (especially if you are taking the priest) and figure out what kind of role you want this command squad to perform in. If you are just going for rule of cool then leave it as is but you won't get nearly as much mileage out of them as you would if you kitted them out with the same role in mind. For instance take that command squad and kit them out with 5 meltas and 5 melta bombs, toss in the sanguinary priest to help keep them alive to complete their mission and watch them pop a vehicle a turn. Of course this all depends on what models you have available.

As a general rule I always go for unit specialization, makes it easier for me to figure out exactly what I am doing with each unit and makes that unit that much more effective at it. For instance your tac squads with the flamers and the heavy bolters, unless you are combat squadding them then they have a confused purpose. Flamers are an assault weapon and are best used aggressively but a Heavy Bolter is a heavy weapon and if you move you are snap firing. Why not instead drop the HB and take Heavy Flamers instead? This keeps your tac squads incredibly mobile and allows you to put out a hurting along the way without any of the penalties associated with the HB.

Just my two cents, and it took me a few years to truly learn what my style of play was. Good luck though.

For 230 points (your command squad) you can get five sanguinary guard with a fist and banner and also have enough points to give both HQs a jump pack. I agree with Dustin about the heavy flamers on the tac squad. I tend to play very aggressively though (hence why I play flesh tearers). Lastly drop the combi on your librarian for Gallian's staff.

I'd agree about heavy flamers, unless you're planning to combat squad them in which case I'd change the HB to ML or LC instead.
