Hello everyone, recently I just got done finishing Rynns World, the story of the Crimson Fists suriving their near destruction at the hand of the Orks and have to say hands down this has been my favorite Space Marine Battles Novel so far. Because of that I am now somewhat interested in putting together a Crimson Fists army to field on the table, the only question is how to do so while accurately sticking to the fluff as much as possible? Now I have conducted some research onlne using as many sources as I could here is a rough gist of what I know they consist of:

-Anywhere between 200-500 Marines total
-High number of Veterans and Specialists such as Techmarines and Apothecaries
-Limited number of Scouts
-Limited number of vehicles

Based on this what would be a few good Formations to run for this army to try and make it as post Rynns World accurate as possible? I appreciate everyones feedback and thanks for posting!

19th Krieg Siege Army 7500pts.
40k/HH Night Lords 5000pts.

Well pedro and a 1st company detachment would be pretty spot on.

1st company squads of sternguard could work, but you could also just make them your elite choices in a CAD to make them objective secured. His +1 attack would also make them pretty punchy with 3 attacks each. Sure they wont hurt for much, but its still cool. Maybe even go as far as to give the sergeant a power sword and pistol so he has 4 attacks or just keep the bolter and give him a lightning claw.

3 squads of sternguard lead by Pedro could get some work done.

Scouts or tacticals for your troop choices. Just because they are low on scouts does not mean its none thematic for them to bring some of them. Gotta have the new blood see battle at some point.

Beyond that they are Imperial Fists so siege warfare, but do remember they are a bit broken so they lack the bodies and tools to do this. So as it stands they fight more like Raven Guard, but with the mindset of a Fist.

As I recall they are low on the average marine (I took that to mean tacs). I thought CF were primarily veterans and boots (bets and scouts). Please correct me if I'm wrong though. If I'm right this could be represented by taking a 10th coy CAD with Pedro and a 1st coy take force using sternguard.

Well, its their more veteran marines they would have more of, and since tactical marines are the most veteran of the non-1st company marines, they would have more tacs than say assault and/or devastators.

If you are building a CF style army, then you have to take the mindset that they are rebuilding, and most of their remnants have seen their share of battle. I play CF and my typical list has at least 1-2 scout squads (because they are rebuilding after all, so lots of new recruits), 2-3 tactical squads, 1-2 sternguard and 1 terminator squad. Fortunately, I have a lot of the older style rhino chassis tanks, so when I use them, I say they pulled them out of storage and pushed them into service out of desperation...that's also how I explain the contemptor.

To field the Gladius, I always use something like land speeders instead of assault marines, as assault squads are likely the least remaining (they are the step up from devastators and the step down from tacticals).

I run a good deal of Veterans with my army. I run a Battle Demi-Company(with a Command Squad of Veterans) and a 171st Company Task Force with two full Squads of Sternguard and a squad of Vanguard Veterans to go with Pedro Kantor. Another thing I run is a CAD with two full Squads of Sternguard, a squad of Honour Guard, two Scout Squads, and a Devastator Squad(they are newly graduated Battle Brothera) and a Raptor Wing (two Stormtalons with Techmarine pilots! But I painted the pilots and gunners as Veterans).

Basically, I run a lot of Veterans and newer recruits. My 5500 pts of Crimson Fists is like half Veterans.

5250 pts
3850 pts
Deathwatch: 1500 pts
Imperial Knights: 375 pts
30K 2500 pts
