Set alone in a largely untraveled arm of the galactic plane, Deathwatch Station Cellaris has been a critical fortification against Xenos threats that would use the Dominion of Storms to enter into the Segmentum Tempestus. Made from ancient metals that long ago fused by permanent exposure to the violent expanse at the edge of the Kaal system. Deathwatch Watch Commander Evern Arristes has long since forgone his old chapter alliance and wears the black of the Deathwatch as his only allegiance. Aided by the Codicier Malgrun Rhuul, the Kill Teams based at Watch Station Cellaris keep constant vigil across a wide range of space.

Arranged into four Kill Teams, the Deathwatch brothers are quick to respond to pleas for help, and make constant recon missions gathering evidence of hostile Xenos incursions into their realm.

Kill Team Ester is led by a chaplain and each member of the team is equipped with a jump pack and a mixture of close combat and tactical weapons. Their rapid leaps across the battlefield denies their enemies any chance to anticipate the tide of battle.

Kill Team Brutus is a close combat specialist force that uses Power Gloves, Thunder Hammers and other hard hitting close combat weapons to pierce strong armor and defeat monstrous enemies. Codicifer Rhuul often joins this team and lends his powerful Psionic mastery to protect and strengthen their already formidable powers.

Kill Team Goliath and Kill Team Atlas are arranged as standard Kill Teams with five brothers bearing modified Bolt guns and a mixture of close combat weapons and a special weapon. These two teams range far and wide keeping a vigilant eye open to the threat of Xenos.

Bases arrived! I decided to create a slightly retro look with loads of gears and cogs for the bases. I might add little bits of machinery to make the bases look like the inner workings of a great machine, but I am already happy with the uniform appearance the bases ended up with.

Basecoat of chaos black applied to my Deathwatch Marines and their Allied Inquisitorial task force. I found these Warlord minis under the Pike and Shotte line. They make great looking Feudal troops, and are slightly smaller than the normal heroic scale, so they look shorter next to the Marines.

Basing will be my next focus with these guys, Perhaps using more of these tiny gears I used for the Deathwatch Marines

A full Platoon of Guards to base still. Blurry Pic, but it shows the amount of models still to work on. I am looking to score some Leman Russ tanks and some Chimeras now to drive all these troops around.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I also have cleaned up and am starting to paint the Grey Knight task force I bought last Summer in a boot sale. These models were pretty scattered and incomplete, but I have made good progress putting them all back together. A squad of Terminator troops, two Strike squads and a handful of special characters.

A nice basecoat of Shining Silver and a home made wash applied today and I might take some breaks from my Deathwatch models to paint these guys.

Librarian Apollo Simetra wielding the Demonic axe Klave. Taken from the field of battle and bent to his will, it longs for the chance to corrupt again.

Librarian scribe-Mechanic Olympus Evas bears the Apocryphic Ledger. Its ever changing script gives its reader insight into what the future might hold.

Force commander Euripidies Moralez wields a great two handed force sword. A small tome hangs from his side inscribed with the details of each mission he deploys on. ONLY upon his death, shall his next in command open it and suffer the infernal directions written inside.

A metal Terminator. Actually, most of these minis are metal. over half the Strike squad models are metal.

Today I worked out a satisfying way to give a blue tint to the silver armor of my Deathwatch without overpowering the model. I also have started to block in the foundation colors for each model. Shoulder pads will begin to get final paint and trim colors shortly. Robes and other cloth material is based with appropriate foundation colors and personal items on each model are largely picked out for detailing. My next step will be selective blacklining and washes to make the colored items on each model show cleanly and with depth. My final trial will be a light amount of highlights and then maybe a few spots of battle damage. I am especially worried about their eye lenses as those small spaces are always challenging for me to reach without messing up. Gem effects and reflective lenses on weapons are another area I look forward to attempting.

These are looking good, there's some excellent figure poses which will really stand out when finished.

Detail work is coming along nicely for each model. I got overexcited and added static grass to each base, but still am working on final decals and cleaning up edges.
