Hello there,
I acquired a Sentinel kit, but i find that model terribly ugly and it doesn't fit into my army style.
I searched for ideas elsewhere, but I found nothing I liked.
My vision is something like tracked weapon platform instead of a giant chicken.
Another issue is overall height of the model. I don't want anybody to accuse me for MfA.
Gentlemen, can you help me out?

I've been thinking about this myself for a while as I strongly dislike the sentinel model too.
One idea I had was to take the lower half of a Adeptus Mechanicus Kataphron and use the sentinel body to make some kind of small armored vehicle.
I was also considering making it very open topped and use it as a counts as HWT as the sentinels are pretty meh ruleswise as well.
For the height thing you could always just put it on a cliff or a platform or something that raises it to equal the sentinel in height.

Here's my mate Randy McStab's sentinel objective.
The thing looks great as a downed recon vehicle and with the removable pilot it makes a lot of sense and is very thematic as 'The Relic'.
Loads more pics and some really nice guard in his gallery.

When I tried to imagine the Kataphron and Sentinel together, it would look like Ork looted cableway cabin.
Maybe I'll try to create a battlemech out of it. You know, those which were in Avatar movie.

Are you planning on making armored or scout sentinels?
If you're planning on making the armored versions, maybe make some plasticard plating to bulk up the legs and try to put the weapon in the middle in the front? Looking in your gallery I can see that you're pretty good with plasticard so that shouldn't be too much of an issue. Maybe make it so that the "body" is on a platform that can rotate say 180 degrees and use a sponson leftover if you have one to frontmount the weapon you're planning on using. It looks decent in my mind at least but I have no idea how it'll look in practice. I'd also try to move the entore "body" a bit back as the sentinels look like they'll tip over if you just give it a slight push from behind as they are now.
EDIT: Something like this, please forgive my crappy drawing skills.

Armoured one. I have only one model and I'm planing to use it alongside two veteran squad as mobile weapons team /w autocannon.
Your concept is fine and I appreciate that you actually drew it.
It actually looks like AT- ST from Star Wars.
EDIT: Forgiven

Replace the legs with caterpillar tracks? Say the Dinotruck kiddie line? I have seen some used as rapier bases and the scale isn't too bad.

Hmmm....
like this?
It could be done. Or another version could be essentially a tracked gun platform with a raised weapon platform.
Only of course it would be armed with a multi laser, auto cannon, lascannon or whatever you please on your Armored Sentinel
I have a crazy alternate armored sentinel that is essentially a giant monowheel machine with auto cannons. Its one of my older creations that I will eventually build a newer better version of.
Maybe I have a laid back group and have never gotten issues over my creations but If done correctly with its gun at the same elevation as a Sentinals, most people should be fine with it. That and as long as its explained what it is.
