Subject: Ogres depicted with one red/bloody hand?

I couldn't find anything in the lore wikis for Warhammer Fantasy.
Games Workshop depicts ogres with a red/bloody right hand/arm on miniatures.
Why? What is the meaning behind this and where can I find info on it?

It's probably just their eating hand. Ogres don't always cook the flesh before they eat it and it bleeds quite a bit when it is still alive.

Skragg (I think) is always depicted with a bloody left hand... it's whatever hand they use to eat with.
Ogres aren't particularly deep or meaningful.

When Ogres were first released the main tribe pushed was the Gore Fists I believe. Before a fight they dip their hand in a cauldron of blood, thus the bloody red hand
It was in the White Dwarf from around that time. I have it but I'm nowhere near it right now.

Thanks! Finally found something via Google with your hint, they are now either re-named Gutripper tribe or your memory was wrong

Yeah I'm pretty sure I have the name wrong but the White Dwarf at the time did go into more detail about it (Along with painting guides and such). I'll get more info for you once I can get home and get my hands on it.

Okay, apparently I cannot find that White Dwarf. However! through the process of elimination it is probably in White Dwarf 299 where they mention it. I took it out to read up on the "Bugman's Lament" scenario and don't know where I put it.

I wouldnt bother recreating the paintjob frankly, thick gore is surprisingly hard to get right. It also wouldnt last long or necessarily be even or neat, and there would be blood splatters everywhere else.
I would leave thick red gore to DE cauldrons and use it sparingly elsewhere.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

Just flipped through WD 300. Wow, that was a nice magazine back then, I totall forgot. From nice artwork and fluff to conversions, building lakes, objective markers and even a whole board for a sea invasion in LotR.
Even a comic is in there.
Can't find 299 anywhere though. If anyone can help me out, that would be much appreciated.

Yeah those old WD are the best (Especially the Bugman's Lament Scenarios leading up to WD 300). It's why even though they were two editions behind I hung on to them.
I still can't find my copy of 299 but I have all the White Dwarfs leading up to and after the Ogre release. I remember reading it in a WD. Its got to be in 299 since I couldn't find it in the others.
