Carcharodon Astra operate far and wide from the safety of Imperial space. Crossing into the Magellanic clusters to the galactic South and upwards from the galactic plane into Tyranid Infested micro galaxies locked to the movement of the Milky Way galaxy. Leading the charge in ground based attacks, the Landraider Crusader is a fearsome weapon of warfare. Librarians serving with the Predation Fleets of the Carcharodon Astra must rush to the fiercest fighting to support their brothers in desperate, mortal combat.

Founded before the Heresy, the Carcharodon Astra has always served mankind and the Emporer with a fervor rarely matched. The Codex guidelines outlined post Heresy were never intended for space-born, crusading forces that could spend generations without any support from home. Predation Fleet Mako is one of many parts of the Carcharodon Astra roaming across deep space.

Whenever the desire and need to land heavy fighting forces on a planet arise, the modified Landraider Crusader "Frenzie" is there to lead the charge. Often carrying the Fleets Librarian Conclave into battle, the added armor and aged machine spirit of the "Frenzie" has sometimes suffered horrific damage, but has always returned to the Grand Cruiser high above in orbit.

Further battle damage, weathering and mud applied to the Land Raider formation for Predation Fleet Mako.

I really enjoy your tribal decorations on the tanks they are well done. And the mud effect is nice as well.

I just can't help but notice the head lights are ignored and they should have something to add to the models.

Fantastic work.

Thank you for the compliments, I am still very much in the learning how to use my airbrush stage and I barely have wrapped my head around using a brush. The missing headlights are on order, but nothing arrives fast to a tropical island. I got impatient and started painting before the sponson weapons arrived too.

I had considered trying to do the airbrushed OSL headlight effect, but I am not sure I could do it without screwing up and having to strip the whole model.

I did get a good bit done on my Predators and Vindicator today. Hopefully my final bits will arrive and I can complete these models and get back to my Bikers.

Very nice on the sharks on the sides of the vehicles. Is that a stencil or freehand?

After Spring Break, tourism slows down here and I have a little free time to focus on painting. I have several squads of bikers and a command squad that have been in the works for almost a year now. I am pretty pleased with the progress and just need to work a little bit on the snow bases that seem to have yellowed over the last year and then work out a OSL effect for the headlights to use on both the bikes and my tanks to help unify the overall force.

I have sorted my bikers into 3 main squads of four. Each squad has two special weapons: melta gun, plasma gun and flamers. I have looked into using grav for the squads, but my plasma and melta are the old metal minis so remodeling them seems pretty unlikely. Instead I plan to mount grav weapons on the command squad and use the bikers for specific roles supporting each other. Each squad will also be joined by a assault bike with multi melta once they are completed. Finally, a pair of assault bikes with multi meltas will be able to shift heavy firepower as needed.

All the detailed sharks and markings are from a stencil I created with my printer. My freehand is nowhere near steady enough to paint anything that cleanly. I sadly have to resort to using a magnifying lens to paint. Somewhere around forty, my eyesight seems to have decided that focusing closer than two feet away is no longer possible.

Carcharodon Fleet assets include Terminator armor and Scouts assigned to each Company. Terminator assets use non standard markings and include the infamous "Red Wake" assigned to Tyberos during the Badab conflict. But these were just one of such veteran squads of Terminators. Predation Fleet Mako uses two squads as the fists of their Chieftain. Simply named for the right and left hand in an ancient language of Humanity, these warriors paint one gauntlet red to indicate their allegiance.

Captain Selim Nodan wields dual lightning claws forged before the Great Crusade. These ancient weapons have brought the Imperial Truth to many Xenos and wayward Humans over the eons.

Assault Squad Mahue

The Ka Kurua Kaha (Strong fists) of Predation Fleet Mako

Here are some images of the combined forces I Have painted so far.
2 Predators, 1 Vindicator, 1 Land Raider, 3 Land Raider Crusaders, 6 Dreadnoughts, 10 Terminators, 3 Librarians, Terminator Captain, Bike Captain, Techmarine Biker, 17 Biker Marines, 5 Assault Bikes and 24 Scouts.

Tino Toa (Captain) Nodan leads his Librarian and Dreadnought forces.

Command Squad Bikers wield their bloody chainswords as they lead the charge into battle.

Plasma weapons are still commonly used by Predation Fleet Mako. Scouts eagerly wait to show their worth in combat as experienced Bikers race past them.

Tino Toa Nohopuku (fast warrior chief) Titus flanked by his personal aid and chapter hero Tserra Lee. Brother Lee wields the ancient sword Maikuweni, its fierce glow bringing light to the darkest corner of the galaxy.

Full chapter as it is painted.

I have worked a bit on my Vanguard Veterans and have completed all 25 of them. I split them between normal chapter colors and a version of the Rogue Trader era camo scheme they are listed as using.

Tribal markings and blood adorn many veteran brothers armor.

Chainswoirds are excellent tools for debating the value of Xenos and Heretic life.

Camoflauge helps hide the blood of your enemies!

Wild eyed Chaplains lead ther brothers into battle.

Five squads of Veteran brothers ready to bring the Imperial Truth to the furthest reaches of the Empire.

Today I finished two squads of tactical marines to join my growing army. I made sure to add plenty of chainswords, skulls, chopped off heads and a few animal skins to remind my opponents that the Carcharodon Astra are able to shoot and to close in melee with equal ferocity. Adding a generous application of blood really helps bring home the mindset of barbaric warriors from space, sent to battle in the Emporers name. Finally, I added tribal markings and purity seals to show the complementary beliefs in the Imperial Truth and the bloody traditions of a thousand savage societies scattered across the galaxy.

Tyranid infested terrain slows the Carcharodon advance as bloody pustules breathe scaled and venomous life from each puckered mouth, while fast and strong tentacles grab legs and hands.

Chainswords are a proven method of securing a region so horrifically infested.

Blood splattered across this vet sgt indicates his role as a Diplomat able to converse clearly with any number of Xenos or heretical filth.

Fur pelts, skulls, heads and other tokens are retrieved from powerful enemies to show the strength of the Carcharodon brothers. Fight bravely, and you might also be lucky enough to adorn the armor of such a mighty warrior!

Grav Cannons are also used to round out the Carcharodon Tactics. Powerful firepower mixed with brutal close combat skills are required to shift priority constantly while in combat.

The appearance of Carcharodon forces is a glorious chance for enemies of Humanity to witness the fate of all who oppose the Emporer of Humanity. Loyal Imperial Humans should keep a safe distance while combat is underway and for several days afterward.

How does this not have more comments?!?! These guys are amazing! I am usually not the fondest of imperial allied stuff but this has got to be one of the best looking armies i have ever seen. Definitely the best and coolest ive ever seen anyone make space marines look.

The modeling is solid but what really makes your guys shine is the incredible paint job and detailing, I love the shark and tribal symbols and the blood splatter is icing on the space marine cake. Truly amazing work and I cant wait to see more.

Thank you for the kind words. I am having a lot of fun putting these guys together and am happy that others are enjoying the process. I am starting to see the light at the end of the Tunnel and might even complete this army by the end of Summer.

I do lurk on many other peoples threads and admit that I rarely post anything while enjoying the visual spectacle. The occasional mention like Evildrcheese and Caesar3594 go a long way to help keep me motivated.

Predation Fleet Mako has been growing rapidly these last few weeks. Additional Command resources were deployed to assert command of all ground forces. Chapter banner of predation Fleet Mako has unfurled and inspires all who lay eyes upon it to fight with merciless resolve in their persecution of Humanities enemies.

Chapter Command squad led by Heroes of the Fleet.

Devastators provide long range support as they earn their place on the battlefield.

Thousands of years separated from Imperial space has led to veteran squads of Marines whose physical variation speaks to unknowable lineage. The harvest of Progenoid glands from fallen Warriors has filled the Carcharodon ranks for eons. Constant testing, both physical and mental, wards against the taint of Chaos and the horror of physical mutation.

Celebrated on the battlefield, Veterans revel in their brutal attacks and harvest grim trophies from Xenos and heretic alike.

A grisly totem inspires warriors in the heart of battle. The fearsome Heavy Flamer illuminating the skulls of fallen enemies for all on the battlefield to witness.

Skyhammer Annihilation Force elements act as a spearhead for Carcharodon Preadation Fleet invasions. Wearing camo pattern armor and split into Devastator and Assault teams, These brave Brothers arrive deep inside enemy lines and link up with Scout elements already infiltated planetside.

Plasma Cannons require difficult maintenance rituals. Failure may mean death.

Heavy Bolter teams provide suppresive fire and force enemies to remain stationary while Assault teams close for the kill.

SAF troopers suffer horrific casualty rates, Camo pattern armor increases survival by as much as 10%. (Estimated)

Heavy Bolter teams provide flexible fire support for Assault teams as they establish a controlled perimeter.

Thank you for the kind words. I am struggling a bit with faces and making skin look right on my Scout conversions. The methods seem different when working on skin and cloth. I am becoming fairly comfortable painting armored models, but yeah, painting skin and cloth is taking me outside of my comfort zone.

This is awesome! That camo is superb. And though it's been said before, I second it- the tribal markings and bitz on the vehicles are sweet

I have added several squads of Scouts to my Carcharodon army. Instead of clean, well disciplined troops, I decided to return these Scouts to their Rogue Trader roots. Techno-Barbarian wildmen raging across the battlefield eager to earn the right to don the Power Armor of the Carcharodon Astra. Each model started with a set of Scout legs, but then a wide range of torso, arm and heads from Chaos Marauder, Chaos Marine and various specialty Scout packages have been mixed together to create something special for Predation Fleet Mako.

I started with a handfull of traditional Scout models and a pile of leftover legs.

These Scouts need to show the brutality desired of Carcharodon Scout forces.

My desire to drown these models in Blood and gore was strong, but I limited the blood to a single model and a handfull of close combat weapons.

22 Scouts gathered and ready to infiltrate deep into hostile territory.

Lost for months in Overseas mail, a package arrived late in January with six Contemptor models I had ordered online last July. Soon afterward I found ample time to work on my new models.

Several suits of Contemptor armor are in the armory of Predation Fleet Mako. Modified and refitted as parts wore out or were destroyed, there are six functioning sets among the Fleet. Three are armed with Dual Kheres Assault Cannons. These venerable brothers are respected warriors and their role is both leader and protector on the battlefield. However, once interred, removal from the Contemptor suit would be fatal for the ancient marines. Over time the minds of even the greatest of warriors slips into dementia and for the most aged pilots of the fleet Contemptor suits, the mental degradation is very real.

No longer entrusted with long range weapons for fear of the horrible damage they might impose blindly around them, these marines are limited to chainfists and power claws. They are kept frozen in thick ice untill needed and when they are unleashed, their addled minds quickly lose hold of reality and turns to blinding rage. Lashing out while rushing the enemy, they are a powerful force that terrifies and slaughters their foes. But the killing never stops easily once begun, soothing the rage of these maddened Contemptor suits takes planning and only exhaustion or trickery can lead to their peaceful internment in ice again.

Dang those dreadnoughts are awesome! The one with the chainsword fingers is particularly terrifying.

I'd love to see a little tutorial on how you did the tribal markings on your tanks, those things are awesome

Discovered aboard a Spacehulk in M32, four suits of what is described as Hastalis Dreadnought armor were found sealed in a cargo container aboard a PanOceanic warship that had been bent in half. Purple skinned Genestealers had infested much of the spacehulk, and android servitors protected much of the ruined ship as the Carcharodon forces explored several merged ships.

Designed with advanced neural interfaces, these suits had hardpoints for heavy weapon mounts and Integrated auto senses far more advanced that typically used in dreadnought design. as a result they are more nimble than Imperial Dreadnoughts and the internment is painless. For this reason they are desireable to Brothers who have been severely injured and are expecting to soon be placed within a Dreadnought system.

A modified system was also found titled Xiphodon. With two additional hardpoints for heavy weapons and an upgraded communications and networking array, it can remotely activate the other three systems. These were all sealed and prepared for some ancient battlefield, but now they serve the fearsome Carcharodon Astra.

On the tabletop these are going to be counts as Centurions. Equiped with hurricane bolters and Grav Cannon. The Xiphodon system will count as twin linked weapons.

I love your scouts. You've modelled them the same way I modelled my Executioner scouts, but mine aren't painted yet. I hadn't planned on lots of bloody gore, but I think I should now.

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

Nearing the end of assembling my Carcharodon Army, I am beginning to add some terrrain. I made a dozen cds covered in plastic plants and they work nicely as flexible terrain to make a section of my gaming table harder for armor to cross and provide some cover for infantry.
