Ok so, this is sort of a review.. more like pissed off ranting review tho.

So my bro bought me the big pack that's come with every color and 3 brushes and a small painting guide from The Army Painter. Tbh, he shoulda kept his money.

Here's a small review of the box content : The box advertises that it comes with a free 16 page guide to painting. I didn't even get one... of to a great start! I did get all 3 brushes, but they suck arse. The insane detail brush has 8 hairs. I counted, it's legit like 8 hairs and they are all different lenghts. Can't even possibly use it, nor can I try to trim it to equal lenghts because hair lenght is too small. The other 2 are alright, but one of them already dead and I barely started painting. Half the paint bottles are badly molded so when I squeeze said bottle to get the paint out, because it's sort of a drop dispenser system they got going on, but paint just leaks all over the spout. I need to wash it everytime or else paint dries and it's now clogged. If by accident it topples over, well gg no re, I got a bunch of paint in the cap now. It's very annoying and not to mention that the paint dries stupidly fast and of crouse, 3/4 of the paint choices are way to watered down. There's a blue that I will most likely need around 20 layers.

and to top it all off, I bought their magical colour primers, which is basically a paint that is also a primer! Woah!!!!!! I bought skeleton bone colour primer wanting it to be.. well like the skeleton bone I got from the paint box which they advertised was going to be exactly the same colour! Guess what? It's not even the same tone of beige.

You guessed it, I'm fking pissed and it's making my getting back into painting 40k experience a real pain and not fun at all.

But I do need to mention that their shades are dope. They're amazing.

I used their stuff for some time I like it a lot now I never gotten a get started set as I buy colors as I need them. And I used their primer with no problems. The set might have expired have you called them?

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience. Quality control issues can happen with any company. Call them to report the problem or return it as defective to wherever you bought it from would be my suggestions. Or have your brother do it, since he bought it for you. Maybe you/he will get a refund, or can exchange the set.

I'm sorry to hear that. I recently bought their "most wanted" pack of 3 brushehs - Insande Detail, Dry and Medium and they work just fine.

further proof that buying less but higher quality is often the best bet....

gw does a great job of making it easy and matching colors. they lack all the sprays that army painter does but they are both not primers. its just paint. primer has a quality to allow paint to stick to its surface easier

ask for a refund and come back here. people are always willing to help, just avoid ogre chubs advice.

I'm glad you at least like the washes, they work extremely well. I've switched over to them almost exclusively. I agree about the brushes. I have a Character and Detail, and they just don't work. The tips on mine are just as shabby as yours.
