Hello, what is a good starter army for age of sigmar, I'm only looking at getting a small number of models, to save money, so any ideas, are stormcast eternals any good?

I'd suggest any of the Start Collecting sets, which are great deals and each is enough to play the game with on its own. Stormcast are great. The cheapest way to get them is the starter box.

Start Collecting! sets are the way to go,as they give you some models and a formation to use. The rules and unit warscrolls can be had for free from the GW website or the the Sigmar app.

The only exception would be for Khorne Bloodbound or the Stormcast, in which buying or shopping online in the usual places for the starter box set makes sense. It's not too tough to find people selling off the Stormcast or Khorne portions of the starter box.

Stormcast are a very powerful, elite army. Also, they all have a minimum of two wounds, so you won't need to paint a lot of miniatures.

In general you'll want:

1x Hero to be you general
1x Wizard or Priest
1x Core unit of Infantry
1x specialist unit, maybe cavalry, maybe something else
1x Monster or Warmachine

To me that's a good AoS army because it gives you a fun variety of troops. The Start Collecting boxes are amazing as they fill in 3/4 of these roles straight away.

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

I tend to recommend to people to go with the rule of cool. Pick what you think looks cool and then pick up that starter set. If you don't like they way your models look on the table, your chances of enjoyment will decrease.

Yeah I think you should just pick the army you like most and get the starter set for it.

In terms of brute force I think the stat collecting Seraphon might be the strongest.

Poster boys are always the best. They will get the most updates new units and attention and painting guides.

I think space marines got 4 updates a couple suplements new units and lomited edition stuff and some armys are still 1999 books.

It depends upon your play style but the Start collecting boxes are amazing if you want something semi-competitive and cohesive in the field.

In my opinion, due to their versatility, Stormcast is a great army but is expensive.

I got into AoS with a death army, which I love, and is really fun to play!

On a surly Warboar, leading the Waaagh!

Ogres! Easy to paint, lots of character, absolute beasts in the game and low model count.

I second the Ogres. My main army is Stormcast but my ogre army fits in one small case and stays in the trunk for "emergencies".

1 Butcher
6 Ogres
4 Ironguts
4 Leadbelchers
2 Mournfang Cavalry
20 Gnoblars

This is probably the best advice. If ever there was a game that lends itself to this ethos, Age of Sigmar is it.

Basically, this. Specially for new players. What looks cool and will be more captivating and exciting to them. It's a visual and social experience.

Not a fan of Stormcast, everyone seems to play them. If I were to choose a low model count army I'd go for Ogres.

To be honest, it seems like everyone plays SE and many have armies but I really don't see them as often as I expect. In fact, was more than 20-24? games in before I even faced them. But Ogres are awesome and really good in AoS so go for it.
