A quick question for my fellow Kriegers.

Awhile back I picked up some DKoK off ebay and with it came two squads of Engineers. They came in official FW packaging, but are made of a pale yellow resin. The seller assured me they are original, but from years past. Although the pale yellow resin is peculiar, these Engineers are of exquisite detail, further convincing me they are original and perhaps an early cast. Strangely, when compared to other grey-resin, FW DKoK soldiers, these yellow-resin Engineers seem short and petit. Anyone else notice this or the contrary?

TL;DR: Are DKoK Engineers smaller in scale (height, build, etc.) than other DKoK soldiers (i.e. Grenadiers, Death Riders, CCS, etc.)?

Krieg! What a hole...

I made a quick comparision, its probably their poses, the Engies are all hunched and crouched, compared to standard guardsman, they seem to be the same size. They're smaller and less bulky than Grenadiers, but the Grenadiers are the beefiest DKoK infantry. And it would make sense to have smaller men be engineers, too

Yellow resin? Probably a fake. Never seen or heard of yellow resin from FW, or GW in general.

can neither confirm nor deny I lost track of what I've got right now.

On moon miranda.

They're not as armored as the Grenadiers, but the Engineers should be the same size as all the other infantry generally, through several are posed crouching/hunched.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

Yellow resin is definitely a recaster. A while ago, one recaster sold his items in FW bags, so that is no indication of an original. And neither is the quality. Some recasters have full detail, especially on infantry.

Not necessarily. Some of the earliest FW pieces were cast in a brittle green grey resin. It was tough, but shattered if forced. It was also a nightmare to clean up because it was so tough. Later on, they moved to a cream, almost yellow, resin. I've got quite a lot of this stuff, especially my Epic Forgeworld models. Modern casts are in the standard grey. The cream resins are from around 2004/07-ish which is when they started producing the Engineers.

Thanks for the size conformation fellows. I first noticed the difference when converting an Engineer heavy flamer team using bits from the Grenadier kit. Those Grenadiers are beefed out!

As for the cream yellow resin, I agree with Zedmeister. His description matches when the ebay seller first purchased the Engineers. I have seen recasts and these don't look it. In fact, the detail on these Engineers is better then other recent FW purchases I have made.

Recasts wouldn't change size of models and resculpting smaller models defeats the purpose of recasting. They are just hunched over.

They could be fair bit most likely real fw changed thier resin a few times and even in the same order I've seen slight color variations in different kits based on the resin mix.

Generally color is a poor indication of fakes mold lines give it away and the excessive flash from cheap silicone molds recasters use.
