Hi all! I've hosting a 15,000 vs. 15,000 apoc game (Mechanicum+Iron Warriors and Word Bearers+Daemons vs. Imperial Fists+knights/Salamanders and Shattered Legions (DG and TS)+Imperial Army) and I wanted to get some more input on the mission rules and faction buffs that I put together (since there are no Apoc. formations for 30k)
we're not using strategic assets, and it's going to be a more friendly game (the mechanicum player is not bringing his reaver or ordinatus unless requested of him ). We're theaming the battle on the schism of mars, more specifically when Sigismund led his band of merry marines to go mess stuff up.
Spoiler:
Unnatural Disasters (roll d3 + turn number at the start of every turn): > The Loyalist side is always the master of disaster
> The traitor side may attempt a 4+ roll to stop the attack (AA batteries), this drops to a 5+ after turn 4
Orbital Strike Table: 2-5: Orbital Bombardment: make a single Orbital Strike Asset attack
6: Ruination: d3 buildings (or ruins) take a roll on the building damage table, adding +2 to the result
7+: Incendiary strike: choose 1 table: All units on that table take a S: 10 AP: 5 hit for every model in the unit.
General Rules: · Relics are Allowed, Excluding the Nanyte blaster
· Multiple Rights of War are allowed, so long as the requirements are met. Only units in a right of war gain the benefits, and units cannot perform an action disallowed by their RoW (deep strike, run, etc.)
· Loyalist or Traitor Specific RoWs are allowed on either side.
· Loyalists are attacking and automatically have the first turn.
· The Warmaster's Warlord Trait applies to his allies as well, even if the Warlord trait specifies a single faction (Example: Solar Auxilia's Blind Barrage WT)
· The attacking side may decide if night fighting is in effect. Night fighting continues into turn 2 on a 5+, turn 3 and onwards on a 6+
Faction Bonuses: Loyalists: · Orbital Assault: Legion terminator Squads and Legion Specific squads gain the deep strike special rule. If the unit contains an HQ model in Terminator Armor (not primarch), it make assault from deep strike. This assault is treated as a disorganized charge.
· Eager Attack: Each attacking player may have up to 3 infantry units make a scout move. Units that make this scout move are still allowed to assault the 1st turn.
· Orbital superiority: The attacking side is always considered to be the master of destruction for the unnatural disaster table. Additionally, any units that may normally take rhinos, may take drop pods instead.
Traitors: · Fortified Positions: Any unit with a character gains Stealth (ruins and buildings) so long as the character is alive. Any units within 6” of an HQ unit or model gain Shrouded (ruins and buildings). These buffs do not stack.
· Stubborn Defense: Units in Ruins, buildings, or other similar terrain (battlements, etc.) do not take pinning checks or leadership checks caused by shooting. Additionally, these units can overwatch at ballistic skill 2 rather than 1. This may not be modified.
· Relief forces: traitor players may set aside an additional 1,000 points beyond their initial points at the start of the game to come in as reinforcements to arrive at a set turn before the game starts. This 1,000 points may only contain 1 super heavy or gargantuan monstrous creature.
Mission: Primary: · Siege Assault: the defenders may place a single objective within the “fortress” that the attackers must hold or contest by the end of the game to be able to win.
· 6 objectives (entire buildings): each is worth 3 victory points at the end of the game. VPs are removed if the building or ruin is destroyed. Cannot be held or contested unless you’re “inside” the building or ruins (marked by building perimeter)
Secondary: Slay the Warmaster, Line breaker, Attrition (more units left standing by the last turn)
Other: Night fighting, Supremacy tactical Objectives (?)
Is there any glaring balance issues or flaws? I tried to make it so the attacking force actually FEELS like an assaulting force, while the defenders get additional buffs when defending. Any C&C is welcomed.
I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field.

I'm not so sure about this rule. This seems quite powerful, and I don't understand the fluff reasoning behind it. I would change it to some other benefit from having HQ models in a squad on the loyalist side.
However everything else looks solid. Make sure you take pictures and do a battle report!

Will do! I'll be honest, the charging from deepstrike terminators was a bit of a balancing act to deal with the other sides warhound + possible Reaver/Ordinatus. The only justification is something like the leader is organizing efforts more efficiently, though that's iffy. What would you recommend swapping it to?

Well if you're worried about warhounds and other titans unbalancing the sides, why not have loyalist characters give their units Preferred Enemy (Titan)? It wouldn't be too powerful, but it would directly address the unbalance you're worried about and be decently fluffy.
