Hello Dakka,

I am looking to start collecting Eldar now that I have some Tau and some Orks, but, I have no idea where to start for a competitive Eldar List . However, I'd appreciate it if you could include one or two of the Eldar Anti-Grav Tanks in the list as I REALLY love the look of their models

Thanks in advance for any and all replies,

Well, in such a small point game getting tanks isn't going to do very well for you.

The best HQ you can get for almost all point games using Eldar is a Farseer in a Skyrunner.

The best troops choice is the jetbikes all with Scatter lasers. Three of four units of these will do well for you.

Then, if you really want to use a vehicle, if forge world is allowed - a Hornet with two Pulse lasers will do well for anti tank and high armour value infantry. Either that or a afire Prism or even a Night Spinner. That's the basic layout I would go with but let me know your thoughts.

Are you wanting a 600 pt list, then? Because that's totally doable.

Warp spiders are your friend. Especially at low points games.

Try:

Farseer, Jetbike

4 Jetbikes with Scatter Lasers

4 Jetbikes with Scatter Lasers

Hornet 2 Pulsars

Hornet 2 Pulsars

5 Warp Spider including Exarch

596pts

Squads of 3 bikes are better, but can't quite fit in the extra bike. 2 Hornets >>> 1 grav tank.

Note; this list won't win you any friends.

Or be "that guy":

Farseer Jetbike

3 Jetbikes with scatter lasers

3 Jetbikes with scatter lasers

Wraithknight, heavy wraithcannons, scatter laser.

587pts.

That list will lose you the friends you have.

Actually, the advice above is a good template. If you're wanting fairly competitive, you can do a Farseer on a Jetbike + 2 units of 3x scatbikes for 282 points.

This fills up your CAD troops & HQ requirements, leaving 318 for, say, a couple of tanks and Warp Spider squad, or whatever you want to build the flavor of your army/play style.

Although any army you play from this point onwards will feel positively awful.

I would also warn against this as it will not make you into a better player. You'll learn by losing, and figuring out what units can do.

A t8 w6 GC walking around, while having 24 str 6 shots per turn, and access to the best individual psyker in the game, for casting spells, means you wont appreciate how hard it is to kill regular stuff, perils, and basing strategies around "what if", instead of when

Yes the lists are strong but bear that in mind

How competitive do you want to be? Not getting tabled at the FLGS competitive? Or going to tournaments competitive?

Because Eldar are really good, so you can basically take whatever you want (within reason) and still do OK at the local level.

I would recommend a farseer on a bike, and at least a small squad of windriders for him to hang with. You can’t use most of your abilities when stuck in a box. If you like wraithguard, a spiritseer stuck in a WS with them is not a bad low cost HQ option.

If you like the tanks, no reason not to put together a fully mechanized list. Wave Serpents can be filled with guardian squads, wraithguard, or dire avengers. Falcons can stash squads of Fire Dragons or small DA squads. Fire Prisms and Night Spinners might not be brokenly overpowered, but they can still get the job done.

Toss in other supporting units as points and whim allow.
