a by-the-fluff DG list looks something like this: (before I begin, I'd like to point out the fact that 30k is, for the most part, non-competative. you should be building what you like the look and fluff of, not what you've heard is amazing
1) multiple 20-man tactical squads WITH apothecaries. The 'fluff accurate' DG tactical squad was 21 men, with the 21st man being an apothecary-sergeant. Additionally, Mortation was a firm believes in a well equiped and trained infantry, as such, taking extra CCWs on your tactical squads would be usefull (DG line infantry were actually trained to be tacticals, support, heavy support, recon, assault, etc.)
2) DG had the ability to field some of the largest number of cataphractii terminators
3) Mortarion liked dreadnoughts as they fit the "well equipped" infantry theme very well.
4) DG used assault marines and other fast vehicles, though they were not as common as in other legions. Same applies for most transport units.
5) MK III armor was very common as the extra armor in the front fit the DG fighting style well.
6) destroyer squads, phosphex medusas, and phosphex rapiers all fit DG well
with all this in mind, my 'generic chem' list looks something like this:
1 Praetor w/ 5-10 deathshroud terminators as a body guard
1 Siege breaker console
1 Primus medicae
2-3 20-man tactical squads
0-3 support/heavy support squads
any number of dreads (or contemptors. Don't rule off boxy dreads though, they DO have uses compared to contemptors)
3 apothecaries
a few quad rapiers w/ shatter + phosphex
destroyer squad w/ jump packs + ML
1-2 grave warden squads
1 Vindicator OR phosphex medusa
beyond this, it's ALL up to personal preference as 30k is NOT really a competitive rule-set and functions better when you play for fluff rather then cheese.
