Ive been playing Astra Militarum for almost 10 years. Skitarii came along and have re-envigorated my army quite a bit. But Id love to start a new army, Im just not sure what. I wanted to play Eldar, but theyre also shooty and seem awful competitive. Tau seem very pricy to play at a decent level with lords of war and such. Id love to play Knights but I dont know what to ally with. Any suggestions on what a good combo of fun and viable?

Buy 2 or 3 knights any ally with your Skitarii. There, cost efficient second army that is effectively a fluffy admech/Warriors of Mars list. Plus it'll look legit on the table.

 Go full melee but with the better marine codex (and I say this with BA as my primary) Plus the Emperor's Champion is one sweet mini!

Tau are fun and viable. Play a more mobile army instead of a gunline, bring Kroot, Skyrays, and pathfinders to tone the list down if people around you are getting fed up.
If they are competitive get Riptides, Stormsurges, Broadsides, and a few Ghostkeels.
