Well, to be honest you never really actually use primary colors, makes it look cartoony, but the purest red would be either evil Suns red or wazdaka red

To many unpainted models to count.

I have limited amount of money, i have a bunch of paint, not a very vast amount, im painting marines where every model is from a different chapter. Looking at buying some paint soon and will be mixing yhe colours i need as i go along, will guve me a chance to learn about mixing colours. So i am looking to get just primary colours and then rather spend money on the different washes and gold and metallics. Hobby stuff aint cheap in s.a. Started buying tamiya priducts as of late as the new gw bottles dont go well with me. Will be getting dropper bottles for this now as it will be easier to keep a record and track of what im mixing and what colours i get from it.

I don't know how close they are to the primary colours, but Tamiya make the gloss paints "Blue", "Red" and "Lemon Yellow".

They are X4, X7 and X8 respectively.

In mattes, they do Flat Yellow, Flat Red and Flat Blue which are XF3, XF7 and XF8.

I have no idea about GW paints.

I don't know how close they are to the primary colours, but I don't think there's anything closer within the Tamiya range.

My advice if you intend to mix your own paints, you still want a couple of darker browns and also a lighter beige. And obviously a black a white, I also reckon a grey is useful (obviously you can mix your own so it's not essential, but I find myself using it so often that it's nice to have a mid grey that is repeatable).

Mixing your own colours can be quite tricky unless you've spent some time doing it before. There's a reason we have multiple companies making hobby paint, it's because mixing your own is difficult and time consuming.

I'd say mephiston red, and flash gitz yellow. Blue is harder to choose, but probably caledor sky if you want to mix.

You may find a colour wheel a useful tool.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Ya i will be getting a nice colour wheel, i basically will be mixing paint on a wet pallet, i found with added drop of retarder i get a mix to stay fine for about a week and a half at the moment, i know time is money...but have more time than money, thanks for those codes allseingskink, i will take alook if the store has those codes, the tamiya paint is half the price for twice as much.

As for the metalic colours? What would be the best to get to do the most with?
