I bought Betrayal at Calth, and had Dark Vengeance sitting around. I'm a stickler for 7'+ tall Astartes and 5'10 humans... so decided to make some 25mm heroic style humans.

Stylistically I tried to copy the cartoon leg splayed GW plastic approach. I dislike using the word scale, these aren't scale miniatures, they're 25mm tall heroic style.

The kit has 5 miniatures in it, separate legs and torso's (with the arms and rifles attached). I also got in 3 blank torsos for converting specialists and characters, and 7 different types of heads... so each cast of the mold has 35 heads in it!!!

Uniform wise it's a simple greatcoat... ripe for conversions. The images here are the initial test mock ups, so I've sculpted on shoulder pads and cowls, and other little details.

I've got exactly 100 miniatures and only intend on doing small sized forces, so 15-25 mini's per faction. I don't really use GW rules or force organisations. Here's what I'm going to make first:

Heresy era
Calth Security Forces
Imperial Army, aligned with the Word Bearers

Second, I'm toying with doing a post 40k project (Warhammer 44k) following the fall of the Imperium. The Astartes re-organise themselves from Chapters into Orders, and start raising their own human armies with the same livery (hence the dark angel trooper there). More on that later, Heresy era first!

I've not prepped these for onward sale: not anticipating any interest in people purchasing them. In the future if there's demand though I can look into it.

Wow. They are really cool, they really do make the SM look intimidating with out making them look out of scale.

Very interested to see what you do with the 44k stuff, it sounds interesting!

Very cool! I've long been a fan of your sculpts, and these are lovely. This is a very elegant (and cool-looking) way of making the size difference between Astartes and unenhanced humans obvious.

Quick shots of some parts and the basic assembly. These will be Heresy era soldiers aligned to the Word Bearers, probably sporting shako's. Next up is sculpting shoulder pads and some gear on the belts. For heads I might use some Victrix Napoleonics... or just sculpt my own.

Very cool casts. It's a shame GW doesn't keep all of their Guard figures at a proper scale.

Your models really accentuate the bulk of Space Marines, which would be just as striking, if not more, next to a regular human.

Marneus Calgar is referred to as "one of the Imperium's greatest tacticians" and he treats the Codex like it's the War Bible. If the Codex is garbage, then how bad is everyone else?

Some WIP shots of the sculpts. Also the first squads for the Word Bearers and Ultramarines (nice and clean, next up transfers/decals which I've not done in over 15 years and then weathering).

I'm toying with aligning this little project to second edition rules, so two armies with a max of 50 minis per side, 1 vehicle etc.

10 Heresy era traitor guard ready for undercoating.

I've yet to come up with a name for the regiment, but they're not fully corrupt yet. Each trooper has a parchment on their belt which will be an oath they've recently taken, signed with their own blood.

I'm going for a dark brown reddish colour on the coats and one of the shoulder pads will have blanchitsu markings like yellow and black checkers or black flames. Once painted I'll start some leaders, characters and special weapons.

These are absolutely fantastic, well done.
I've always loved the more human side of things, and you've got it down.

Thanks chaps.

It might not be apparent yet but they're also riffing on the Rogue Trader era Imperial Guard. I don't have any to hand for a comparison, but size and style wise there's synergies - big feet and squat stature.

Can I just ask where the base human models came from? I'd love some of those and you've done great work with them

These are personal sculpts and casts, not really for sale. PM me if you really want some, but I can only order in lots of 10 (so 50 mini's) and there's also the risk of miscasts within that - it's just a master mold I had done, not prepped in any way for commercial production.

44k is just an idea right now, it would be after the fall of the Imperium when the Space Marine chapters become mini empires and raise their own Imperial Guard (it's just an excuse for me to use these 25mm minis and put chapter iconography on them).

Here's the first paint job for the Heresy Era traitor guard. Still need some finishing touches but I'll do those at a later date.
