If you wanted to put the symbol of a homemade Necron Dynasty on the chestplate of your Necrons to replace the original Ankh of the Triarch (Or Sautekh symbol on some of the special characters), how would you go about doing it? If it could be done at all, that is.

The original symbol would be fairly easy to file or cut off.

The best way to replicate your custom symbol would be to make a push mould (like a stamp) that you can use to press the symbol onto the chest plate with green stuff.

I don't know much about modelling or anything to be honest - how small do push moulds go? Is it even possible to make one with the intracy of a symbol like this? (Spoilered because of huge image size)

I suspect not; or at least not without a hell of a lot of failed moulds. I'd suggest printing the (appropriately-scaled) symbol out on transfer paper and using that for something so intricate and small.

Yeah, that would be a little too intricate, not just for the push mould, but you're going to lose a lot of that detail at the size for the Necrons' chestplate.

Your best bet there would be to create a simplified version with chunkier lines for on the chestplates, and just use your more intricate version on bigger renditions of it (vehicles, banners, etc).

Pressmoulds aren't difficult to create with green stuff or instamould - you would be able to find any number of tutorials online that would walk you through the process.

If that's a little daunting, though, another option would be decal paper... You can buy decal paper that goes through a regular inkjet printer, which allows you to create your symbol in any image program and then print off decals at whatever size you want.

Same starting process, just shave or file the symbols off to leave a flat chestplate, and then apply your custom decal.
