Howdy dakka.

Wondering what you guys think is the best way to get Voxs on the board to take advantage of the artillery formation's special rule. Scions? Pod/mech vets? Move through cover inf platoons?

I use the Emperor' s Blade Company and give 2 of the veteran squads a vox. Properly interspaced they can cover quite a bitof the board. Also give one to the CCS of the artillery.

The problem with the vox ability of the formation is that they have to be on the table to draw LoS to the target to give Twin Linked. You can't draw LoS with it while inside a transport

RAW: Ranges and line of sight are measured from the Fire Point itself. BRB/Vics/Transpo/Firepoints.

On another note, I have used line of sight from within a vic to call coordinates to arty. It works.

Ah to the point though, I was considering use of Stormtroopers.
some DS Vox action.

Scions would be good assuming you are using them for more than just twin linking the vox. They are pretty expensive and will die the turn after they arrive. A squad with 2 meltas and a vox would probably be the most effective way to use them.

Also keep in mind the rule says "...any unit in this formation can twin link...". Remember the mandatory command squad? Give them a vox and 3 plasma guns. If anyone deep strikes nearby twin link your command squad plasma gunners against them.

No, by RAW you can only check for LoS for firing a weapon from a fire point. You can't check LoS for anything else.
