So I'm a chaos player who resently picked up the BaC set, and have decided I like the idea of putting a squad of marines on my army that specialize in tank killing, so far I've got
10 marines
7 bolters
2 meltaguns
But I'm not sure what to give the champ, any tips?

Honestly, one of the best you can get in that codex is an Autocannon Havocs squad. 115 points for an easy-to-hide squad of decent firepower. Seeing as you can get multiple detachments, it is easy to get most of what you need outside the occasional Termicide required.

That would be really nice but my have support slots are already filled, but it should also be noted this is for causal games at 1000 points + but thanks for the tip though

There's nothing really stopping you from taking multiple CAD's at that point level.

Otherwise, just grab a Combi-Melta I guess. Melta Bombs are too unlikely to be used, and enough Krak grenades will eventually hurt AV12. Anything AV13 wasn't going to care about a single Melta Bomb hit a turn anyway.

What are the options, seeing as how your heavy slot is full? Just the normal csm squad?

I like to run a 10-man CSM squad with 2 meltaguns in my Khorne Daemonkin army. Put them in a Rhino for protection, of course. I also think a Raptor squad with 2 meltaguns provides good AT power (and they can Deep Strike!).

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

Although Chosen and Havocs can pack 4 meltaguns per squad I would not use them. I would just use Termicide woth combi meltas. pm me if you want some.

Ya its a standard CSM squad with VOTLW, and my heavy slots are currently filled with
A forgefiend with two auto cannons
A Landraider with assault geared Khorne termies and a terminator lord.
If anyone was wondering, thanks for the feedback so far!

Bikes with Meltaguns are a decent choice too.

Also you get 3 Heavy Support slots in a CAD, so you should still be able to take Havocs if you want.

I've run a unit of Chosen with 4 Meltaguns in a Dreadclaw and had good success. Come in turn 1, pop out, melt a tank. If you run Crimson Slaughter, upgrade them to Draznicht's Ravagers for 10 points to get Preferred Enemy.

First, you'll need to be an Ork

Crimnson Slaughter can get Prefered enemy on their chosen for 10 points. Don't forget that all the models in a five man Chosen squad can get meltas.

H.B.M.C.- The end hath come! From now on armies will only consist of Astorath, Land Speeder Storms and Soul Grinders!
War Kitten- Vanden, you just taunted the Dank Lord Ezra. Prepare for seven years of fighting reality...
koooaei- Emperor: I envy your nipplehorns. <Magnus goes red. Permanently>
Neronoxx- If our Dreadnought doesn't have sick scuplted abs, we riot.
Frazzled- I don't generally call anyone by a term other than "sir" "maam" "youn g lady" "young man" or " HEY bag!"
Ruin- It's official, we've ran out of things to talk about on Dakka. Close the site. We're done.
mrhappyface- "They're more what you'd call guidlines than actual rules" - Captain Roboute Barbosa
Steve steveson- To be clear, I'd sell you all out for a bottle of scotch and a mid priced hooker.

Well losing the Forgefiend might be a good start. You get a better deal with Havocs.

You don't need to use a heavy support slot for a land raider if it is taken as a dedicated transport for terminators.

How many points do you have over? A 5 man chosen squad with 5 melta is cheaper even with VotLW compared to a 10 man csm with 2 melta without VotLW.

Either way though you'll need a ride. Otherwise they'll just act as target practice. Otherwise, raptors or bikes make a better choice if it has to be power armoured. Both of which are viable in csm terms.
