So the theory and idea behind this list is to maximize the shield and hull of the vcx 100.

100 points
------

Kanan Jarrus (46)
VCX-100 (38), Fire-Control System (2), Dorsal Turret (3), Recon Specialist (3)

Kyle Katarn (32)
HWK-290 (21), Adaptability (0), Twin Laser Turret (6), Jan Ors (2), Moldy Crow (3)

Airen Cracken (22)
Z-95 Headhunter (19), Adaptability (0), Hull Upgrade (3)

So Kanan has the one less attack dice in exchange for focus token ability. So the thought is to acquire two focus tokens with recon specialist, turn one into an evade token with Jan Ors crew card, assign an additional focus token from Kyle Katarn who had 2 or 3 stacked already, and finally acquire a free action for an evade token from Airen Cracken. That gives the vcx 2 fewer dice coming at it and two guaranteed evades with tokens. Combined with 16 total damage points and that's a serous tank.

Any thoughts?

Victory is not the most important outcome. Enjoyment and excitement is the best outcome, victory is sweeter when it was fun.

Drop the Moldy Crow from Kyle and give Kanan another Recon Specialist, it will be better in the long run.

It's okay in theory, but it all hinges on being able to pull off all of your tricks every turn (or most turns) and a moderately skilled player won't let you do it. Any stress-dealing build, Carnor Jax, Omega Leader, or Crackshot swarms will either stop you from using your tricks or just punch through your evades.

You'd most likely survive longer using Biggs over Kyle and moving Jan to the VCX, I've flown the following a few times and it seems passable, haven't faced U-boats yet

Airen Cracken, XX-23 S-thread Tracers, Squad Leader, Guidance Chimps

Biggs Darklighter,, R2-D2, Integrated Astromech

Kanan Jarrus, VCX-100 Fire-Control System, Dorsal Turret,, Jan Ors,, Recon Specialist,,Tactical Jammer

General idea is to fly in formation, trying to keep Biggs either behind or on the opposite side of the Ghost to benefit from the Jammer, the Dorsal Turret isn't great but helps a bit with action efficiency as it usually means you can shoot if arc-dodged and still have a TL, The tracers are because I had a point left over, and Chimps are free. Like SPJ says Stress is an issue but you can't have everything !

Or put R2 on him and remember to use him. Sensor jammer is an option, but it cuts into your offensive output so much. I'd like to even try Landon with a recon specialist. Frankly, the VCX really needs a 3rd crew slot to but totally efficient. Otherwise take two and hope you can kill them before they kill you

What if you put a Recon Spec on Kyle instead and Jan on the Ghost? You take a focus as an action, netting you two, Kyle does the same, then you pass one to the Ghost which gets converted to an Evade and Airen gives you a second Evade, but still leave Kyle with at least a focus? Or change one of those original focus tokens if anyone attacks before Cracken does?

Yeah, that works as well, but the way I set it up maximizes the amount of tokens on Kanan.

Three focus tokens are gained from Kanan's focus action, one is turned into an evade via Jan Ors. At the start of combat, Kyle passes another focus token to Kanan, leaving him with three focus tokens and one evade token. Cracken shoots and then allows Kanan to take an evade action. That leaves Kana with three focus tokens to use his ability and two evade tokens to shrug off enemy attacks.

It still isn't that good though... any half-way decent player is going to target Cracken or Kyle instead of try to punch through Kanan's evade shenanigans. Staying out of arc and range of Kana won't be too difficult either because the ship isn't that maneuverable and doesn't have access to its rear arc, making it much less of a threat.

What if I did something like dual tanks? So maybe Chewbacca in the Millennium falcon with push the limit, Lando, Jan Ors, millennium falcon title?

There would be less focus tokens on Kanan but then there would be two threats with high hull points and lots of potential defense.

I think your version of "Lots of potential defense" and mine are vastly different.

Something like this. It frees up points to take a Tlt on Kanan instead of dorsal turret.

I like that Chewie build... Mind if I steal to test it out tomorrow?

Chewie was hard as nails. He survived long after the VCX-100 died. Long after. Although it can feel boring to do 1 banks all game long, that's basically all I did and with a stack of evades (sometimes splurging on a target lock) it was enough to discourage my opponent from targeting Chewie, which meant the VCX died very fast. The build is very delicate. You cannot afford to use red maneuvers or bump. Ever.

Haha, hopefully you did well and won though! Was it fun? I do like a little challenge to my build!

I took Nera Dantels down to one hull, as well as Tycho (he had a third B-Wing with way too many options on it). So it was, technically, close, but most of the damage was done by Chewie, strangely enough. And the TLT.

I had fun, because I always want to have fun. I'm just a fun-first kinda guy. It just plays very, very differently from a full-Hera list that I was completely aghast at how quickly the VCX went down.

Yea I'm also surprised that a 16 total damage ship went down that quick. Especially with defensive measures on it. Makes me think maybe pairing Chewbacca with something else. Maybe a skinny han?

Or maybe build han like Chewie and take a skinny Chewie with Kanan crew card to drop stress. Fly it as a 2 ship squadron or something.

Tycho dropped 4 shields with Proton Rockets, Nera Dantels damaged me again for 4 hits with Proton Torps. B-wing just b-winged. That's a couple more hits. I flipped 2 double damage crits in the brouahah, then I k-turned in order to keep firing. Really bad idea.

So I'm registered for another tournament (but not an official one) and I wanted to bring the Ghost to it. I'm worried about not having enough red dice on the board if I kit it out with the Phantom, so I thought I would stay light on it what do you think of these match-ups? It's 32 hit points.

Hera Syndulla (40)
Accuracy Corrector (3)
Autoblaster Turret (2)
"Zeb" Orrelios (1)
"Chopper" (0)

Blue Squadron Pilot (22)

B-Wing/E2 (1)

Or the Ghost could be kitted out like this:

"Chopper" (37)
Fire-Control System (2)
Dorsal Turret (3)
"Zeb" Orrelios (1)
Navigator (3)

Zeb is a trap card, don't use him!

Also, if Hera isn't flying your VCX, she needs to be equipped as a crew. Her ability is perfect for that ship.

You think so? I've only fielded it once or twice. It may have come in handy a couple of times, if at all.

I could replace him with Nien Nunb, on Hera. It gives her a nice range of movements.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I could replace Zeb with Hera on Chopper's version of the ship.

Although I do confess to liking Hera as a pilot, a lot.

... old news, chap. But I only feel that Hera or a Navigator+Hera equipped Ghost can really take advantage of it, the range being so short.

Getting the range on Soontir with it is... delicious.
