Hey Dakka, super long time lurker here finally coming out of the shadows. After taking about a year off I've decided to start up 2 small armies for game nights with my dad. Raven Guard have always interested me since I first walked into a GW store like 16 years ago but the white always put me off because I could never get it looking right. I've slowly been practicing the past few years when I have time going through guides and what not and I feel pretty confident with my abilities. Other forces I've messed around with is a fairly large deathwing army, an armored company for the guard, and a 5000ish point Empire and 2500 point High elf army for fantasy. Army wise, I'm keeping both forces small and not super competitive preferring models I like and have wanted to paint.

The Raven Guard:
Captain with Jump pack (I'll be kitbashing him from a sanguinary guard)
2x 5 man tac squads
5 vanguard vets

I have the vets already, I'm just waiting on a forgeworld order of some raven guard shoulders to arrive before I finish them up.

To be honest I'm not the biggest fan of how the axe came out. I had done the same effect on the Space Hulk Librarian and liked the result so I tried to reproduce it.

The Tyranid force will be used by my dad since he's always been a fan of starship troopers and the zerg from starcraft. We've had a few termagaunts laying around but he never got aroudn to painting them due to his eyesight.

Im gonna go for the standard flyrant with a set of 15 termagaunts and 15 homagaunts with a mawloc thrown in for now. I feel like these 2 armies at 500 points plus the others I have lying around will be good for relearning the rules before jumping to 1000 points

I really love this model, I still dont know what i want to do with the base. I have an old rhino laying around that I may end up cutting up.

Very tidy Raven Guard.

Keep it up.

Thanks man, I'm pretty happy over all with how they're coming out. I got my forgeworld order in so as soon as the weather dries up I'll get out and prime them so I can make some progress

I was also able to get a mock up of how I want the captain to be built up. The sanguinary guard wings are near perfect for raven guard in my opinion. It'd be nice if there was a set similar to them aside from the horus heresy ones.

It finally dried up enough around here to get out and prime. I finished the vanguard sergeant (well I still need to do the base) and decided to work on the mawloc now since its something entirely different from what I've painted before.

Aside from a few test runs, this is the first time I used blood for the blood god on a model.

Found some free time between classes to get some work done on whats on my desk. I've done some detail work on the mawloc but I'm putting more focus in getting the space marines out of the way. I like overall how the captain came out but i see a few areas now where I could do some extra touching up.
