Here's a theoretical list I made as an idea for other ways to play some of my models - never really used chaos lists before! I liked the look of the forgehost and the heavy support from the renegades and heretics detachment. Points might be a bit off as I don't actually have the books.

Tactics: wyverns and rapiers sit at the back blowing things up. Plague zombies advance to objectives and don't die - this list was mainly armour themed, but 270pts for 90 models with FNP makes it a veritable horde list too! The soul grinders make themselves a nuisance with firepower or CC and provide anti-air. Those re-rolls from the forgehost look pretty nasty! The admech dragoons/ironstriders outflank from turn 1 and turn up in the enemy deployment zone - nine AV11 walkers with reasonable CC ability should be horrible to deal with for most opponents.

Riptides, invisibility and super heavies would be nasty for this list to face I think, but hopefully I could just tie up anything I couldn't kill with repeated dragoon charges or possibly with plague zombie/soul grinder assaults? Any C+C would be appreciated! I have 40pts left over as it stands...

Renegades + Heretics Purge Detachment 805pts

Command squad with ordnance tyrant + covenant of nurgle 75pts (not sure of points exactly!)
30 plague zombies 90pts

Hey I think your list is cool!

How would it do against this:
2 x 10 csm (4 plasma guns):
Spartan Assault Tank:
20 csm w/ close combat weapon and pistol, mark of khorne icon of wrath, power fist, melta bombs: (S6 on the charge 4 attacks each, re-rolling hits)
Fabius Bile:
Dark Apostle:
5 possessed in a rhino: (help shield be’lakor)
Be’lakor:

Strategy:
This is based off the Brethren of the Dark Covenant formation in Crimson Slaughter. Thus all of the units have fear. This formation bonus gives Zealot and FNP to the possessed and marines as long as the Dark Apostle is alive and within 12 inches.
Be’lakor hides behind the Spartan and gives it invisibility (dont ask how that works, its chaos), Rhino helps hide Be’lakor. Unmarked marines advance to midfield and shoot their plasma. When the Spartan and Be’lakor arrive, death ensues.

I'm not sure how it would work TBH. It seems like it could be reasonable. You have a large footprint and a good amount of tarpitting. Also many much guns.

You aren't terribly mobile is the only issue really, so scoring objectives that are far away will be pretty hard. I can't comment too much about the Skitarii stuff's mobility, I can never remember what any of those models do.

Other than that it seems reasonable. I'm not sure Tzeentch is the way to go on those Soul Grinders though. Tzeentch is great if you have ways to buff the invulnerable save, usually with the Warp Storm Table or Cursed Earth (or both!). You don't have that, so the advantage of being Tzeentch is kind of lost. Nurgle would do the best to make them really hard to kill with heavy cover saves.

A few other odds and ends:

1. Your Arch-Demagogue needs to have the Convenant of Nurgle to take the Plague Zombies.

2. I think the rapier destroyers with militia training and extra crew are 79 points. I don't have it in front of me but that's the number that sticks in my mind.

Thanks for the replies, guys!

I know most of the list is quite slow. The idea would be for zombies and grinders to take midfield and backfield objectives and leave the dragoons to try and contest/clear the opponent's home field ones. The dragoons and ironstriders are quite mobile. They arrive from outflank with acute senses and have a 9 inch move base, so should get where they're needed.

I did consider nurgle on the grinders - do you think it's worth the extra 10 points per model? they already have their invuln save...

Thanks for the clarification on the points - I've updated the list. Fortunately I had 40pts left over anyway so any shortfalls can just eat into that a little
