Subject: Some two-ship builds for critique

I hadn't felt confident enough to fly two-ship builds before, but I'm hoping to change that now that I've grown more confident in my flying abilities (placing well in tournaments has helped with that I suppose). I don't expect these are super competitive, and while I'm sure I can pull out some wins with them, I would like some input on how I could fine-tune these builds some more.
Anyway, here we go. I'm hoping to test a couple of these tomorrow night and will report back with results.
Rebels #1 (99)
[YT-2400] Dash Rendar w/ PTL, Title, EU, Kanan Jarrus, HLC (58)
[B-Wing] Keyan Farlander w/ SoT, E2 Mod, Navigator, Plasma Torps (41)
Rebels #2 (99)
[YT-2400] Dash Rendar w/ PTL, Title, EU, Kanan Jarrus, HLC (58)
[VCX-100] Lothal Rebel w/ FCS, Dorsal Turret, Chopper, Hera Syndulla (41)
Scum #1 (98)
[Jumpmaster 5000] Dengar w/ PTL, Title, EU, K4 Droid, Unhinged Astromech, Inertial Dampeners (57)
[Starviper] Guri w/ Lone Wolf, Virago, Sensor Jammer, Cloaking Device, AT (41)
Scum #2 (99)
[Jumpmaster 5000] Dengar w/ PTL, Title, EU, K4 Droid, Unhinged Astromech, Glitterstim (58)
[YV-666] Latts Razzi w/ K4 Droid, "Gonk", Ion Cannon (41)
Those numbers are kind of...boring, didn't even notice until now. Huh.
Like I said, I'm sure they could be fine-tuned, but I think they have potential. Even the Starviper one. Latts is a pilot who's ability I've always liked but could never see her in a particular build, even now I'm not sure it's ideal but she could give Dengar an edge against other high PS aces by lowering their agility at least. Bossk was my first choice for a YV pilot wingman for Dengar, but I don't like a 'minimalist' Bossk. Anyway, some input would be great as two-ship builds are not something I'm familiar with.

Pretty bad. Keyan will die early and you'll be left with a very manueverable Dash, but nothing else. Aces, especially those with Autothrusters, will eat him alive. Rebels #2 (99) [YT-2400] Dash Rendar w/ PTL, Title, EU, Kanan Jarrus, HLC (58) [VCX-100] Lothal Rebel w/ FCS, Dorsal Turret, Chopper, Hera Syndulla (41)
This one is solid. I've flown it in a number of games and enjoyed it quite a bit. You'll have to resign yourself to the fact that the VCX is going to die so make the most of it while it's still on the board. Scum #1 (98) [Jumpmaster 5000] Dengar w/ PTL, Title, EU, K4 Droid, Unhinged Astromech, Inertial Dampeners (57) [Starviper] Guri w/ Lone Wolf, Virago, Sensor Jammer, Cloaking Device, AT (41)
This one is meh. Guri's PS is just too low and it really kills her usability. I have been very underwhelmed by Dengar so far; he wants to fly around like Dash, but his three dice attack just can't punch through high agility ships like Dash's HLC can. Scum #2 (99) [Jumpmaster 5000] Dengar w/ PTL, Title, EU, K4 Droid, Unhinged Astromech, Glitterstim (58) [YV-666] Latts Razzi w/ K4 Droid, "Gonk", Ion Cannon (41)
Similar as above. The main problem here is that Latts is a support ship, except you can't really afford to spend 40+ points on a support ship. Also, Gonk just isn't that good, especially without Experimental Interface. I've flown Dengar with three Feedback Zs and it was okay. The Zs actually did most of the work; they nearly killed Wampa and took out a Palpmobile.

Yeah I'm not sold on either Latts or Keyan. I like the idea of Latts as I said, and I do think Keyan can do well with the build I've listed for him without the filler torps, but not in a two-ship build.
I did play three games tonight. Two with the Dash/Rebel build and one with Guri/Dengar. My first game was against a Scum list of Zuckuss, N'dru, and a U-boat. It's a list that's done well for my opponent before but not against me tonight. It didn't help the situation that my dice were FIRE. Literally, in my first few turns when the shooting started, between 16 attack dice not a single blank was rolled. It was both unsettling and awesome. Anyway, I got a general idea of how well Dash pairs with the Lothal even with my ridiculous luck swaying the game heavily in my favor. My opponent deployed to deal with the Rebel first which I wanted, and this let me flank with Dash and swoop in late game to clean house. The Rebel survived too, thanks to my opponent forgetting about my 5k-turn and Hera which put it out of my opponent's arcs several times, though even with that trick it only had four hull remaining.
Second game was against Luke and Han. My opponent wasn't used to large based ships (not an inexperienced player, he just hasn't used large ships for some time and his ability to judge distances for them was rusty) and didn't play it out well unfortunately so I won pretty handily. This time the Rebel was the MVP though, as it used Chopper and Hera a couple times to K-turn behind Luke and Han (not that it matters for Han) and hit them with 5 attack dice with either a TL or focus. Fun combo, that.
Then, as we had a bit of time the same opponent said we should have another game so I pulled out Guri and Dengar, expecting a laugh....I didn't get one. He played much better this time, and after almost killing Luke and damaging Han a bit Dengar went down to some concentrated fire. Guri killed Luke in the same turn Dengar died, however. So, Guri vs almost full shield/hull Han, should be over quick right? Nope, Guri ended up taking Han down to two hull before she was finally destroyed. It went on so damn long I actually wanted Han to kill her to just let it end. The combo of Lone Wolf, Sensor Jammer (which was meh because he actually had Marksmanship so it would have actually helped my opponent to use it) and AT actually meant I dodged all damage for close to ten turns while slowly whittling away at Han, it was stupid. I actually think the build has some potential, but outside of a two ship list.
Anyway, definitely like Dash + Lothal Rebel, it is indeed quite solid. I'll experiment more with some Scum and Empire build and post when I figure something out. I will say the Dengar build does work well for me, but I admit he's a lot more fragile since he wants to be aggressive, so maybe pairing him with an equally threatening wingman would work out better. Thanks for the input either way, it's appreciated.

Your experience with Rebel Dash was similar to mine. I completely wiped the floor with my friend using that combo and I made nine rolls with zero misses. Being able to ignore stress with Hera is definitely awesome... until you get a crit that requires an action to flip. Then all of those stress tokens really start working against you!

The biggest problem with Guri is her cost and her low PS. Against PWTs like Han, she can survive a little bit longer with Autothrusters. However, against aggressive arc dodgers like Fel, denial pilots like Omega Leader or Carnor Jax, or stress builds, she'll just get blown away.

I very much want Dengar to be good, but the biggest problem is that Scum doesn't really have a threatening wingman to pair him with in a two ship build.

A basic Trandoshan Slaver, with Gunner, Tactician and Bossk is a nice ''support ship'' to Dengar as well. I tried Gonk instead of Bossk, with EI, and it was ok.
I think someone read that you can't EI the two actions on Gonk, though? Can SPJ comfirm that or not?

I've seen Dengar and Fett do okay - they were certainly scary in the games I played against them, although take that with a pinch of salt; the Scum version of Boba Fett is a nightmare for a TIE swarm player regardless of who he's flying with.

Thought so. I mean, you can always cruise slowly at first and build up your token pile and do short greens, but on a big base, you will run out of space and better things to do with your actions.
Regardless, it's a healthy chunk of damage to churn through. If there was a way in the points to fit Moralo Eval with a HLC and tactician, that might make it even better. Not as ultimate:

K4 Security Droid (3)
Unhinged Astromech (1)

I like IG88 B and C, but I don't know if either would be ideal alongside Dengar. I like to load Aggressors up, and with the Dengar build listed it's almost impossible to do so. I'd probably be better off either downgrading Dengar to a U-boat, or just simply converting him to a torpedo boat himself, which isn't how I'd like to play him, though it'd probably be less suicidal. Could try some form of YV/Jumpmaster build though, I'll have to think on it.
I've been looking at something, I'm wondering how people feel it'd pair with Dash. Instead of the Rebel, I'm thinking of trying Chopper w/ Enhanced Scopes, Ion Projector, Hera and Zeb to be a nuisance blocker. However there are some problems I see; the lack of a turret and the stress/ion doesn't always work. I could drop the crew for an AB turret...but without Zeb it just doesn't seem worth it. It could be fun, but I don't know if it'd work as well as the Lothal Rebel does...

Zeb is a trap card so you should do your best to stay away from it.
Honestly, I think a Lothal Rebel with Hera and whatever else you can fit on it is the best option if you want to pair it with Super Dash. I've been running it a lot lately and to excellent effect.

Not that I don't believe you as I haven't even used Zeb's card for myself yet, but why is he a trap exactly? Is it because he allows both you AND enemies to shoot while touching or something else I'm missing? Just curious.
I did really enjoy the Rebel w/ Hera and Chopper, so I think I will actually stick with it after looking at it a bit more. The fact that I could catch people off guard by K-turning numerous times and still occasionally taking an action while stressed was quite enjoyable. Didn't use the Dorsal turret though, so I'm debating whether it'd be more worthwhile to go with an AB turret and one of the mods like APLs or Ion Projectors, or even Flachette Torps and Chips. So something like;
Dash w/ PTL, EU, HLC, Kanan, Outrider (58)
Lothal Rebel w/ AB turret, Hera Syndulla, Chopper, FCS, APL/Ion Projector OR Flechette Torps and Chips (42)
Alternatively I leave the mod/ordnance off the Ghost and have points for initiative which...won't mean that much, given that I almost always play against something with PS8+ nowadays.

I'm using Zeb quite a lot recently, and yep, sometimes he's a danger to himself and the ship he's flying in. Despite the Ghost's whopping 5 reds, Agility 0 usually means you have a good chance of being on the losing end of a point-blank fire exchange.
If you're using the Autoblaster/Accuracy Corrector combo and you don't have room in your list for the Phantom, I'd say Zeb is more trouble than he's worth. If, like me, you're using Hera + Navigator or some other build that relies on the Ghost's primary attack, Zeb *might* be worthy in some situations, but admittedly those are so rare I'm starting to question if I'd rather fill that point (and that crew slot) with something else.

Yes, that's exactly why.
I have it on good authority that Zeb was specifically designed as a trap card; he will hurt you more than he will help you in the long run.

I flew this Dash build this weekend, and it is just so great. Clearing the stress on ANY maneuver just makes life so much easier, and I don't even miss Kyle. Kyle always made me feel like I was obliged even more to clear stress, and yes, while the action economy is better, being able to just do whatever I want is .... liberating.

Yep, I know how you feel. Dash has every maneuver available, save for the 5 straight, and being able to do any of them and clear stress is phenomenal. Unless you're flying against a stress dealing list, Dash just care about stressing himself. Often times with Kyle, you had to be much more mindful of subsequent turns and that could limit your use of PTL.
EDIT: fixed my terrible formatting...

I didn't think 2 Bs, Blount and a Stresshog could be competitive but everyone is telling me otherwise. Don't sell yourself short, I'm sure you're a great pilot.
Although I don't think the Ghost will ever make it to top 8 of Worlds either, I just love the model. Sure, I lose it sometimes, and it's a chunk o' points, but it was fun all the while.

Egad. Tried your list last night. (The Dorsal Turret FCS variant)
Dash just kept on Dashing. The Lothal Rebel is a time bomb that you are going to lose no matter what. I wish I had gone in with the AC/AB combo instead, as it would have guaranteed me more hits. Even with TLs, I had terrible luck on its primary reds.
I tried another list with Hera and 2 B-Wings/Tactician/FCS. Very strong output.

I'm still having fun with my Crash'N'Dash list (Dash as described above, Chopper with Enhanced Scopes, Autoblaster Turret and Anti-Pursuit Laser). If you can park an inch or so in front of one or more enemy ships you are pretty much guaranteed 1 hit (from the crash, or the turret if they do a fast turn) but Dash has got to be ready and waiting to attack every single turn and of course the VCX will still be obliterated by the end of the game.
I've yet to decide if a fully kitted out Ghost (Hera, AB / AC, EI, Leebo, Lando + Zeb in the Shuttle) with a utility ship for support (Jan in the HWK, Adaptability Increase, Dorsal Turret, Nien Nunb) is more convincing. Getting a couple of turns turns rolling 5 dice and one turn rolling 6 + AB hasn't been as effective as multiple 3 / 4 dice attacks coming the other way and I've messed up with the HWK on the two occasions I've tried the list out.

I had another game with Dash and the Lothal Rebel tonight. Won despite it looking pretty bad in the beginning (was against 2x TLT y-wings and 2x B-wings) but my opponent misplayed a couple times and this allowed me to run away with the game. I still have yet to have my VCX destroyed, but this time it was close as it only had two hull left. Being able to make red turns and k-turns while already stressed REALLY throws my opponents off I've now concluded. Dash is just awesome as usual, maybe a bit too awesome.
However I'm thinking instead of a turret (third game now where I haven't used it) I might try Ezra as crew instead of Chopper. Chopper is good of course, but I'm curious about how Ezra will do, especially since I tend to have the Rebel stressed for 3/4 of my games anyway, and it's a big target so damaging itself for actions isn't the best idea most of the time. Anyone used Ezra's crew card?

Ezra's crew card is actually my favorite one, personally. Doing a K-turn, then being able to essentially get a free crit everytime you attack because of it, with the Phantom docked so you can perform another attack, is all good in my opinion. I've used him twice and done well both times.

I've seen someone use Ezra in Keyan's B-Wing. a bit brutal, honestly.

Or Ezra with Ten Numb and Advanced Sensors. That might be unnecessary though.

For when you absolutely, definitely need that action and a stress?
Is advanced sensors a ''may'' or a "must" card?

It's a may card.

Right. Not bad, I got confused between Enhanced Sensors, which states its rule as an absolute (a philosophical ought) whereas Advanced Sensors is indeed a may card.
Thanks oh lord SPJ. Automatically Appended Next Post: Care to pick this apart for me? Aside from the pure cheese that fielding two ships from vastly different eras represent...
