In the rules it has something that confuses me a little. I just want to make sure I'm going in with the right understanding before I claim anything to be a certain way in my upcoming tournament.

It states.

Although units cannot normally belong to more then one detachments, units from a formation that is part of a scarblade strike force are an exception. They count as part of both their formation and detachment, and have all associated command benefits and special rules.

The example of this that it gives is the warlord making the entire formation of detachments a 'primary detachment' Meaning that special rules like those given by khan will be provided to all detachments regardless of which one he is in.

It gets me a little confused though when it says that all benefits and special rules. Does this mean that the benefits from each detachment are passed on to the entire formation. For example if I had a stormlance demi, a hunting force and stormbringer sqaudron they would then all count as a single primary detachment gaining access to all the special rules: locate and secure, outrider support, rapid deployment, the hunters prey, thunderous assault, clear and swea and mobile firebase alongside the command benifets as outlined under the scarblade strike force: lightning assault, ride the wind, maximum impact.

I'm initially brought into the conclusion that the answer is no, but I honestly don't know given the wording.

You got that the wrong way around.

You can build a Gladius like this:

Gladius Strike Force
Core choice: Demi-Battle Company
Auxiliary choice: 10th Company Task Force

What the rule you're asking about says is that since the 10th CTF and the DBC are part of the Gladius Strike Force, they all gain the Command Benefits from the Gladius Strike Force. That's all.

Now Kor'sarro Khan is slightly different since he grants his benefits to "his detachment". Since he belongs to both the Demi-Battle-Company AND the Gladius Strike Force, his special rules benefit BOTH. So everyone who belongs to the Gladius Strike Force that he's part of can profit from him as they're of the same detachment.

Ah okay, thats how I was thinking it would be, its just how it threw in the "And special rules" that had me thrown, I didn't want to be selling myself short.

Non-Formation Detachments provide their special rules through Command Benefits. Formations provide their special rules through a list of Special Rules.

So the members of the individual Formations get to keep their Formation Special Rules, such as the Objective Secured for the Demi-Company will still be in effect for the Assault Squad as well as the Command Benefits of the Gladius.

Are you a Wolf, a Sheep, or a Hound?
