Hey guys.

So with the election in the states showing no advance in this should Canada open up free trade with china moving the pipeline to the west coast? It suppose to boost the economy greatly and lets face it, we need the money and we maze well take care of ourselves.

That it's weird to ask for opinions on a 4 month old news story?

Canadian oil is effectively dead in the water. We need to sell it at something like $55/barrel for the tar sands to make any sense and right now its around $30/barrel and no upward trend in sight.

We would be much better off if PetroCan was still a national asset and we sold gas to ourselves.

We were once so close to heaven, St. Peter came out and gave us medals; declaring us "The nicest of the damned".

WTI is $41 at time of writing.

Based on enlightened self interest, the pipeline will go West. Those reserves will not stay in the ground.

Personally, I think that unfortunately, the Libs are just going to keep putting up more and more red tape & government mandated roadblocks, since the vocal minority won't shut-up about how pipelines are evil, environment destroying monsters. (and it lets them ignore a hot button issue, while still saving political face by saying, "well, we at least tried to build them!")
Between the anti-pipeline loud mouths in BC & Quebec, coupled with the local Indigenous Peoples who will mask their own opposition behind the veil of "pipelines will destroy the environment - think of our children!", Alberta & Saskatchewan's oil is going nowhere fast.

Never mind the fact that while in no way fool-proof, pipelines are by far the safest way to transport oil & gas en mass. But facts don't matter to the professional complainers & extremist Lefties. (just look at how the federal NDP membership are committing political mass suicide by pushing to adopt the Leap Manifesto as party policy! )
