Okay, running with the latest cheese of Techno-many Geo-bender and Electro-dance tables. It all sounds so dance music-y....UNC UNC UNC UNC. Im going to make a surfboard Skyshiled pad for 3 knights to 'surf' on as my display board and have a Libby conclave with invis, Tech, Geo and 2x electro tables.

------------------The Powers---------------------
Techno - Armour + 1, regen HP
Tele - Invis
Electro - Displacement
Geo - Geoscapeing terrain nonsense.

----------------------The list --------------------------
3x knights - paladins or errants, maybe gallant - 1125
1x Libby - ML 2 - bike - Mind forge Stave - 120
2x5 Scouts - snipers, speeders w/ HF - 200
3x libbys - ML 2 - bikes - 315
skyshield - 75

--------------------The Tactics--------------------------
The idea is to feed the blender - knights go on the skyshield. I fling the Skyshield forward 24", bring them closer 24", turn knights invis, assault from the shield ignoring terrain, and blend away.

Obviously the Libbys will get durability upgrades and the Ironstone regends mechs. useful for knights.
I could just run two knights and put a chapter master in the libby bike unit and take techmarines. Mobile repair shop

I don't have the IK codex: can you take a Fortification with an IK army? If not, how are you getting the Skyshield?

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

You dont need a detachment to take a fortification. You can just take one according to force org. .. I think?

I mean, that would be like saying i have to take an Aquilla Strong point as an ally building. Which seems backwards as all hell. If anything, the troops ally with the building!

You really do need a detachment like a combined arms detachment to take a fortification. Or just go unbound.

I'm thinking something similar, but with a brass scorpion. You don't have to be battle brothers with the terrain after all.

What about a IK codex? Would that not count? Or a House Formation?

The detachment must have a Fortification Slot, just like any other slot--HQ, LoW, etc.

If it doesn't, then no fort.

Allied and CAD both have the slot, check the BRB to see what it looks like.

Yes you need a fortification slot in a detachment to take a fortification so this list is illegal.

Also based on the current rumors for that psychic power it only moves terrain, not fortifications.

I have heard it go both ways. I have a tourney in a week so they have till then to figure it out hah.

Hmm this is how I would play it, but isn't clear cut. The power targets a "Terrain feature".
The rulebook doesn't talk about terrain much, just 'Citadel Scenery' .
Citadel Scenery has a terrain type, which includes buildings, ruins etc.
and "some pieces of scenery are called fortifications"

The only real difference is that some scenery has a 'Terrain datasheet' and fortifications have a 'fortification datasheet'.

Probably one for arguing ceaselessly on YMDC.

===
- I would judge if something is a 'terrain feature' depending on if it has a 'terrain datasheet' or not.

Agree. Since no one ever uses the rules for the trees in the real rule book, im going to say that buildings are terrain features.

Do you really need the skyshield tho? Its a rare gaming table that doesn't have at least one bit of movable terrain in your deployment zone. Actually, scratch that, you can move first, so really you should be aiming for terrain 12" outside your deployment zone.

.. get any bit of the model in the terrain and you are 'in' it. (p108). so whats stopping you moving the terrain, and rotating it, to get even more free movement. hmm. this power is daft.

So just deploy like normal, then move the knights onto the flying carpet and then whisk them off.... hmm 3 knights might not fit. 2x will most likely fit any terrain piece. I mean sure, I dont need the skyshield, but I cant shape terrain like a surfboard. That was kinda the idea.... =/

Ntohing. Nothing stops you from turning it. but the models that were on it have to be replaced where they were taken off. (for safetys sake) You can totally get extra movement by spinning an oblong terrain bit.... and you get to assault out of it

About what you can shunt, I've seen the actual rules and while they're not super specific (GW FTW) I interpret it as being only terrain, which means only things that can't be targeted for shooting attacks. Seems like the best way to play it to me, but in the end we're waiting on ITC to figure it out.
