I painted up one of the 30th Anniversary Imperial Space Marine model using almost exclusively the two new GW Artificer Layer (S, M) brushes and a GW medium basecoat brush. The new brushes are very good, with the small approximately equal to a W&N Size 0 and the medium artificer brush about the same size as a W&N Size 1. They had good snap, held their point, and cleaned pretty easily. They aren't as "long" a brush as the Artificer Layer XS -- the XS Artificer has a very long, thin tip at the end of the bristle, making it harder to use for a large number of uses.

As always, thanks for viewing, and thanks in advance for any C&C!

Man Talys, you work fast! Great job though. I'm really looking forward to taking the wrapper off mine and getting to grips with it, but for now, he will have to wait.

Thanks, guys! This guy was a lot of fun to paint. For those who don't own the model -- he comes in a very curious (and cool) assembly. Basically, his body is split in 3 significant vertical slices - left leg and torso, right leg and torso (which also has a right torso connecting "slice"), and center torso cable and head. The belt weapons then attach, the arms over that, and the backpack hooks into cables that come off the left and right pieces. The pieces cleverly cover up seams, with things like cables so that there's no filling necessary to cover gaps. Very different from a typical space marine.

There's almost no way I can imagine of painting this model fully assembled, as there is way too much overlap -- the arms cover the belt pistol and the cables coming down the chest, for example. Fortunately, the pieces fit perfectly, and assembling most of it

The highlights are the same that I do for all my Blood Angels. It's 3 layers - Evil Sunz Scarlet (fat), then Troll Slayer Orange (fine), and then Ungor Flesh on the corners and areas where I imagine that light might hit a little harder. On this particular model, I did Evil Sunz Scarlet with the Artificer Medium brush (which is a size 1 equivalent), and the other highlights with the Artificer Small brush (which is a size 0 equivalent).

You knocked that out quick! Awesome job! I'm really loving the visor. Really well executed

Glory is fleeting, but obscurity lasts forever.

Considering also your duty as a warrior you should not waver. Because there is nothing more auspicious for a warrior than a righteous war.

Thanks! I think the visor is one of the nicest features of the model. I wish there were more power armor heads with visors like that

I... actually don't know. Help?

Amazing Talys! I agree, that visor is a really cool part of him. What do you use for the brightest highlights for the red?

To Valhall! ~2800 points
