So let me preference this by saying the following.
In no way am i telling people how they should or should not spend their money, its their cash, their choice, i would only question as why they did it.

So last Saturday, with the 30th birthday, I trundled down to my local GW store to do my weekly painting and picked up the collectors miniature. I got there around 11:30, store opened at 11:00 AM. First thing i feel like was a GW problem was not limiting it to one per customer, we had people buying 3 of the limited edition marines which were already very limited in quantity. Granted that was the only reason i got mine, one of the guys buying three of them let me have one, so i wont complain to much on that aspect, but still an oversight on GWs part me thinks.

But what i really wanted to ask you guys about, was this. How do you all feel about people buying, limited collector minis, which again very limited supply, many people in the store did not even get one. Then having to watch as the people who bought 3 or 4 of them, hand them to their kid, who then proceeds to glob paint on them, and honestly ruin the model. Now again, im not saying they are wrong for doing it, but it just really erks me, and is honestly cringe worth for me to have them sit there and do that, in the middle of the store while some people did not get it at all, just seems really....not classy.

So what do you guys think at dakkadakka?

If you were at the store, and watching some one paint a very limited and collectible model by just globing paint on it and not really appreciating the value of it, while others who do appreciate it and seek it went with out. The only way these people got the model in the first place was a, imo, scummy tactic of buy 3 or 4 of them.

Is that cringe worthy/rude/erk you? Or am i just a gakhead? If im just a gakhead, well then so be it im just a gakhead.

To many unpainted models to count.

If someone wants to drop that kind of dough on a mini and then let an 8 year old blob paint on it, that's their business, and 100% not yours.

You're focused too much on people buying 3 or 4 and not enough on GW choosing to make too few. That's the feth up.

If they want to thats fine, i dont care about that, the thing that erks me, is letting them do that, right there in the middle of the store. They bought like 3 or 4 of them, when people who wanted the model did not get one because of stuff like that, then letting them paint and honestly ruin the model.

I dont know to me it seems akin to going out on console launch days, buying one, then going to the end of the line and smashing it in front of the people who really wanted to get one.

Just you, I guess.

Again, what they do with their own stuff is their business. Don't get worked up over the individual. Tell GW that they didn't make enough stuff.

Yeah, it's other people's stuff to do as they want.

They got it first, they bought it. They could cut the model into little pieces if they wanted, throw it under a car, trial explosives on it. And that's up to them. What they do with their model is up to them. If they ruin it, you can console yourself and claim that in your own eyes, you have the moral high ground. (Of course, that may not be applicable to everyone else)

If your issue is with the lack of them, that's a fault with the manager or GW. Not the guys buying them.

Get over it? I could care less what someone is doing with his money and his time. Care so much? Buy your own, paint it, grow up.

Also, have to agree with Kronk (which I like to do, I'm becoming a quick fan of his posts), focus on GW not making enough of these minis.

So, just to be clear: You've started a thread to complain that kids are having the gall to paint things you don't think they deserve to a standard you don't find acceptable?

I think we're done here.
