I have been brainstorming and it is easily seen that vehicles aren't exactly in a good place right now. So I have been brainstorming some methods to fix them and so far I have come up with this!

All vehicles get an armor save.

This is in addition to everything they have already it just gets added on top without any extra changes. This means if you have a dreadnaught with a 3+ save if he gets shot by an autocannon and it glances or pens he gets to ignore this on a 3+.

The formula would be simple. Add up the sides of the vehicle to get the total, all totals have an armor range.

30-33= 4+

34-36=3+

37+= 2+ (although im thinking 3+ might be the top end to keep down the shenanigans)

This would make old vehicles like land raiders and Leman Russes a little more useful, it would make a big push towards making dedicated anti-tank weapons something to be desired, and in addition to deflating the power of weapons that are not exactly meant to be anti tank weapons like scatterlasers, giving vehicles a fighting chance. Also it prevents hardier front line tanks like LRBTs from having entire squadrons wrecked by a tactical squad with krak grenades (although they can still tear up light vehicles like chimeras or rhinos, as it should be). This dose not prevent any of the low str guns from still hurting vehicles like they did before, it simply gives those vehicles a chance against weapons that are not intended to be an anti tank weapon (i.e. scatter lasers, ion, or autocannons)

What do you guys think?

It doesn't do that much really. Most anti tank guns have good AP already.

on the forum. Obviously

I think I suggested a type of save based on AV as well.
It was a while ago, so I already forgot the details. It was similar to what you posted, but it was a bit more complicated and allowed haywire to ignore the save; EMPs don't care about your armor.

good anti Av10 guns are usually Ap4+ or better, good anti av 14 guns are usually ap 2+ or better.

So...working as intended?
The saves are to stop the tanks being glanced to death by heavy anti-infantry weapons.
I would think a dedicated AT weapon is good at killing tanks.

AV10 are basically light vehicles. Heavy anti-infantry can deal with those. A .50 can tear up cars and lightly armored vehicles, especially with AP rounds.
Where it gets silly is when AV12-13 gets shot up by S6-7, which shouldn't really be doing that against that level of armor.

precisely, this is more of a measure to shore up the middle, giving things like dreadnaughts a better chance against S6-7 weapon which more often than not is used to kill these vehicles.

I was thinking with haywire it states you merely have to "hit" to have the effect so it would still work normally (as it should)

This times a million, the idea of vehicle armor saves is to merely reinforce the concept of anti tank guns being anti tank guns, and heavy infantry guns like tesla not being able to easily destroy vehicles.
