The murderhost is such a fast and fun list to play and I was looking forward to playing a 1500pt Daemon vs Necron game with it. However we have had to scale down the game because my opponent cannot stay for long.

What I want to know is: will the murderhost be as affective at 500 less points? I lose over 20 flesh hounds which means I am running 8xbase flesh hound squads rather than 8xunits of 8 flesh hounds. Can units of 5 flesh hounds survive?

If the answer is yes, do I need to play it any different than normal? (i.e. rush forward and overwhelm the enemy)
If the answer is no, any suggestions as to a list that plays similarly? (No I do not want to play KDK so no gorepacks)

I think you should be fine. I was thinking of running the Murderhorde with 5-man hound units anyway. The bonus for the Murderhorde almost requires units to "team up" anyway. So as long as you are running 2-3 units together and have them function as the same unit (charging the same units, etc), than you should be fine

The Herald I am taking has an axe of Khorne. I am hoping to drown the necrons in attacks as each of the hounds gets 5 Str5 hatred attacks at WS5 and I4 AND one unit will get rage AND the Herald will have 8 Str7 ap2 hatred attacks at WS7 and I6.

I think this will be enough to jump from one unit to another eating Necron face. I would think a thirster would be downed pretty quickly with the number of high strength Necron weapons.

Do you think otherwise?

it is not enough, i played murder horde at tournament and you need AP2, 3+ armor and FNP is hard to overcome, ok necrons test when lost combat anyway so you can have a chance, maybe at 1000 pts necron can be handled but at 1500+ is not so simple. also AV12+ armor is out of reach for you, tomb blades are a pain in the ass for you.I always play a D thirster with murder horde, it gives me edge against heavy armors and things like FNP, but of course at 1000 pts is not easy fit it, maybe you could try bloodcrushers.Do you use aeterblade on herald? if not he is str 6 on charge not 7
