hey guys, im brand new, haven't even actually played a single game of 40k yet, that being said i'm looking for some CC on my army list. Im not looking to go out and win tons of tournaments (especially since its only a 500 pt list!), but im not also looking to be completely tabled either.
Here's my list:

HQ:
Tervigon w/ cluster spines, scything talons, and desiccator larvae

Troops
Termagants x10 w/ 8 fleshborers & 2 devourers
Termagants x10 w/ 8 fleshborers & 2 devourers

Heavy support:
Carnifex x1 w/ TL devourers & BL worms

Elite:
Venomthrope x1

This should come out to 501 points, but if anyone says anything i'll take one of the devourers out and replace it with a fleshborer.

I love it dude ! Remember me when i first started tyranids before playing them competitive Next step, think about getting 1 hive tyrant with wings, 2x twin linked devourers et electro shorck grubs. You will hit 750 pts which is a great start and you won't regret the flyrant i promise !

Flyrants are good, but at 750 are a bit much.

You'll get more mileage out of the bigger Devourers, so I would drop the ones on the Termagants and fit your Carnifex with 2. It can fire two guns per phase per being a MC - you won't regret it.

I'd also have the Tervigon just fitted with Regeneration. It's your only sources of synapse so you want it alive as long as possible. Normally I don't take Regeneration ever, but at low point games it's pretty good.

For 750, Zoanthropes are a good shout. Another big bug would supplement the force too.
