Hello all,

I'm getting my Blood Angels together and I am looking at painting them as Flesh Tearers as I love the colour scheme and their fluff (also lets me use them as Word Bearers/Blood Angels in 30k sorta).

That said, unlike the Blood Angels chapter, I'm not sure as to what markings the Flesh Tearers use to denote unit type (tactical, assault, etc) and their markings for sergeants (like yellow blood drop on black shoulder pad).

Help would be greatly appreciated.

I play FT as well, and they are generally a codex chapter following the blood angels marking system. I've seen picturs that show different things - one shows the chapter badge on the left shoulder, and the right with the company blood drops on it. Alternatively I've seen more recent pictures with the chapter badge on the left, and the usual tactical, dev, assault arrows on the right.

As there are only about 300 Flesh Tearers remaining in the fluff, and they've cross trained all of their remaining marines to fill any role (tactical, dev, assault, etc), you can paint them up any way you'd like with regard to stripes on helmets, etc.

You do have to be careful in the colors used, though, for example, a yellow sergeant helm might look too bright with the black and red scheme, likewise, a yellow stripe on the black helm might look like a bumblebee (tried it, didn't like it).

The Flesh Tearers use the standard Codex markings with a blood drop in the center.

So for tacticals use the upwards arrow, assault the cross arrows, etc etc as the ultramarines would do.

For sergeant, I'm thinking a black blood drop with a yellow spiky circle (will have to get my freehand skills up to scratch).

I'm sure I've got a few pads of which to try this for..

The obvious one is to just remove helmets for sergeants I guess, lol. But I was going to save headless dudes for Captains, Librarians and stuff.
