Looks like they've gone the "street" route with the character.
Not filled with optimism based on the 2min scene.

We find comfort among those who agree with us - growth among those who don't. - Frank Howard Clark
The wise man doubts often, and changes his mind; the fool is obstinate, and doubts not; he knows all things but his own ignorance.
The correct statement of individual rights is that everyone has the right to an opinion, but crucially, that opinion can be roundly ignored and even made fun of, particularly if it is demonstrably nonsense!” Professor Brian Cox
Lke you, I'm not overly optimistic, but I'm not judging just yet either. Jenna Coleman ended up being a very tough act to follow, so we'll see how this newcomer stacks up when we get there.
In the mean time, my 'issue' is that once again, we get what appears to be a mid-20s 21st century human woman. In a show that can cover as much ground as DW, this is again a missed opportunity; it would be so much better if we could get, say, a 17th century human who can look at the 'modern' world with a sense of awe, or an alien to whom Earth is a distant, totally unfamiliar planet? Reverse things a bit, mix it up, instead of giving us RoseMarthaDonnaAmyClara the Sixth...
This sort of thing happened all the time in the Old Days, why not now?
I dont like her, it seems like her whole thing is to annoy the doctor.
Also, Paradigm, I feel too much they are trying to recapture the Rose mechanic, where the doctor falls in love.
Basically because literally everyone hated them, so over the last couple of series they've been quietly retconned into technicolour obscurity and re-replaced by the PROPER Daleks!
I think they only lasted 3 stories... Victory of the Daleks when they were introduced, The Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang where they appeared in a monster ensemble and chased around a museum, and Asylum of the Daleks, where they shuffled awkwardly at the back of the Dalek parliament... after that, it's been the bronze ones for the most part, and the odd old-old-school one in background shots in a couple of recent Dalek stories..

But they didn't even try to think of a clever reason of why . If I'm honest, it just got so much worse after Peter Capaldi came along, though I very much doubt it is his fault.
The try-hard to be quirky-funny dialogue doesn't do it for me, it's so unaturalistic and irritating, but that's all modern Dr Who has become it seems. Yes we know Daleks look funny with a sucker, we don't need this pointed out by a character onscreen as though it's a new idea. If people on screen aren't remotely scared by them, how can there be any sense of threat?

There's a balance that the show needs to find these days, in between trying to be 'scary' and trying to work around the fact that most of the old-school villains are, by modern standards, more than a little silly.
For the most part, I think they've done a pretty good job of that. Daleks are scary because they do scary things... but they still get made fun of, because they're funny-looking.
If they tried to take it all too seriously, it would just be lame.
What they should have done is, when they had that comment of. "They're fat, they'd get stuck in a door." "They're a tank."
Then cut to a Dar'lek smashing through the gap and an "oh ****" look.
But yeah, looks like a mix of Rose and Donna. No real strong feelings from me to be honest. - I'm not a massive Dr Who fan, generally but I do tend to watch it.
